While our obesity epidemic widens, fast food companies insist on making bigger and more disgusting sandwiches. There was, of course,
KFC's revolting Double Down. Then Krispie Kreme decided it was a good idea to put a cheeseburger on a donut. Now Burger King is set to unveil a pizza burger that has four -- count 'em, four -- Whopper patties.
Called the NY Pizza Burger, the sandwich is expected to be unveiled at the chain's new flagship Whopper Bar in Times Square in New York City next month, according to the New York Daily News. In addition to the four burgers, the sandwich contains pepperoni, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, all on a 9-and-a-half inch bun.
This culinary monstrosity comes in at a gut-busting 2,520 calories and 144 grams of fat. But Burger King recognizes this thing is massive, and cuts it into six pieces so it can be shared, just like the traditional New York pizza it's based on. (Right, we all know that will happen.) But even if a customer did have discipline and shared the burgizza (I'm patenting that name), each serving has 420 calories and 14 grams of fat.
The new Whopper Bar is a place for Burger King to try out new items, an "innovative lab," in the company's words. That also includes the Meat Beast Whopper, complete with beef, bacon, pepperoni, American cheese and mayonnaise.
Angioplasty is a side order.
