Beginning in September, Burger King Japan will be offering its signature Kuro (meaning “black”) burgers complete with black cheese and ketchup.
The burger, which has bamboo charcoal to color the bun, was first introduced in 2012.
Their newest additions to the black burger menu, the Kuro Pearl and the Kuro Diamond, both come with black cheese made using the charcoal of bamboo, which was burned inside an oven at extremely high temperatures.
Even its ketchup is black, mixed with squid ink.
Blackened fast food is popular in Asia. McDonald’s in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan also sell black-bun burgers with black sauces.
