A husband and wife on the way home from their wedding got into a tragic accident that claimed the life of the brand new bride.
Kali Dobson, 25, was sitting in the passenger seat while her new husband Ryan Quinton, 27, drove home from their wedding. At one point, a dog ran into the middle of the road, and when Quinton swerved so he wouldn’t hit it, he lost control of the vehicle.
Dobson, who was not wearing a seatbelt during the drive, was ejected from the car as it plunged into an embankment. The car eventually landed on top of her.
Quinton was seen by a passing driver stumbling alongside the road searching for help. The driver went with Quinton to try and help Dobson, but when he saw the car on top of her, he knew it was too late.
“His shirt was all torn up and he was bleeding,” said the witness Chris Thomas to reporters. “He had blood all over his face and blood was coming out of his hands and stuff and just looked bad. And it scared me to death. There was nothing that could be done. The car was on top of her. You couldn’t even see her.”
Dobson was pronounced dead at the scene, and Quinton was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
"What should have been the greatest, most beautiful day of their lives is the end of one and what could very well be something hard for this young man to get over,” said Thomas. “I pray that he will.”
Authorities say that blood alcohol tests will determine if any sort of charges will be filed against Quinton for the tragic accident.
