Brenda Tucker Fatally Shoots Herself And Her Brother Ricky Tucker Is Killed In Car Wreck On Way To Hospital To Check On Her

A family tragedy took place in Detroit early Sunday morning when a young woman shot herself and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Her younger brother died in a car crash on his way to the hospital to check on his sister.

Brenda Tucker had reportedly been suffering from depression, said Eddie Falbo, her uncle, according to The Detroit News. The 21-year-old reportedly threatened suicide inside a bar owned by her family.

“She grabbed a gun, and I took it away from her head,” Falbo said. “Others were talking to her. I came out the door and heard, ‘pop.’ It was terrible. There were about eight to 10 people in the bar; everyone heard it.”

Tucker was rushed to St. John Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Times Herald reports that after an ambulance arrived at the scene, Tucker’s 20-year-old brother Ricky Tucker jumped into her car outside the bar and headed to the hospital, but soon after police received a call of a crash.

“He was racing to the hospital to check on his sister,” Detroit police spokeswoman Kelly Miner told the Free Press.

Ricky Tucker was pronounced dead at a hospital and police said it appears that he crossed the center line and his car collided with an SUV. The other driver involved in the crash was taken to a hospital and suffered minor injuries, according to police.

“So my nephew was going to look after his sister, and he ends up getting killed, too,” Falbo said. “This is a close family; this is a tough one.”
