A boyfriend's letter to his girlfriend with a list of rules she must follow while at college has sparked controversy.

In the letter, the unidentified man texts his girlfriend, beginning by repeatedly writing, "NO BOYS. NO DRINKING" reports Total Sorority Move.

“This is really hard for me because I’ve always been a tremendously good person and have never gone to a party," the boy writes his girlfriend, before listing out his rules for her.

“When I text you, you are to answer," he writes. “The party is not and will not ever be more important than me. You better know what you are doing. Please don't do anything to ruin us."

Before demanding she call him that very night and give him "every detail," he adds: “I don’t know why I allow this but whatever go."

The letter has simultaneously outraged many.

"I don’t know why your mother allows you to be such a controlling piece of s***, son. Do less," writes Lucky Jo for Total Sorority Move. "I don’t know who the chick on the receiving end of this text is, but if you’re reading this: for the love of God, dump this man. Do it for me, yourself, and women everywhere."

It's not the first letter by a lover capturing international attention, the Daily Mail reports.

One girlfriend used colorful pens and glitter to write her boyfriend a list of ten rules he must follow while on vacation with his friends. It appears to be written as a joke, with her boyfriend laughingly sharing the post on social media stating: "Whitney's taken psychoness to a whole new level."

"No girls whatsoever. Don't look. Don't talk. Do not touch!!!!!! (Cheat and I will destroy everything Celtic, I will also make your life a living hell. Kim will be told too.)," she writes as rule number 2, adding later that he also must not add any girl on social media.

She also demands he keeps his iPhone charged at all times, in addition to various other rules.

The letter went viral, receiving over 12,000 likes and over 5,000 retweets, with many finding it amusing.
