Toddler Corpse Found Under Bridge Identified (Photos)

Authorities say the decomposed body found in a garbage bag underneath a Louisiana  bridge on July 6 belongs to a 2-year-old boy.

DNA tests confirmed the child to be Timothy Thompson IV, whose parents were arrested in June, the Daily Mail reports.

Onterio Thompson, 21, and Gabrielle Whittington, 21, were arrested after the child’s grandmother, Laverne Thompson, informed police she had not seen the boy in weeks.

“The family members became suspicious when there were different stories about where this 2-year-old was located,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.

“We got the runaround from the mother, who gave us different stories,” he added.

Thompson eventually cooperated, leading authorities to his dead son’s location.

Police charged the parents with unlawful disposal of human remains and obstruction of justice.

While Whittington was later released on $10,000 bond, Thompson was also released but then transferred to another jail. He faces additional drug-related charges.

It is still not clear how exactly the child, whom authorities found in a white garbage bag under the Huey P. Long Bridge, died.

In the meantime, the dead boy’s grandmother, 44-year-old Laverne Thompson, now has custody of his siblings, whose ages range from 11 months to 4-years-old.

“I just want them to be children. I want to provide a safe and loving home for them,” she said, adding that Timothy’s death has left her heartbroken.

"He was just so jolly. He was my jolly rancher," she said, NOLA reports. "He was so friendly. He would give you the biggest hugs."

"He was like an angel that God sent just to put a smile on people's faces the little time that he was here,” she added.

Laverne has created a GoFundMe page to help cover expenses for Timothy’s funeral as well as help with the care of his siblings.

Myself along with other family members now have to care for his 3 slibings and we are asking for your kind donations to help us with their care. Clothes, Shoes, Diapers, Formula and any other donations are welcome. No donation is to small. Myself along with other family members would like to thank you in advance for your kind donations. May God bless each one of you. RIP My Angel Tim!
