The car of the future is here now. BMW is set to unveil a concept roadster at the Geneva auto show next month with features out of a sci-fi movie.
BMW said the concept called "VisionConnectedDrive" has features that show how intelligent networking will enhance the driving experience in the future.
The concept has a 3D display of key information in the direct sight line of the driver, eliminating the need for the driver to take his eyes off the road and look at the dashboard.
BMW said in a statement Thursday:
The display allows the real view to be overlaid with virtual information, highlighting hazards allowing the driver to assimilate all of the information quickly and take appropriate action.
BMW didn't forget the passenger. He (or she) also has an information display, out of the driver's field of vision. It allows the passenger to evaluate information, music or navigation details and forward them to the driver's instrument panel.
Among other innovations on the concept are antennas that can transmit and receive information, such as GPS and traffic information.
