Bill Maher: Liberals are Scared to Say Second Amendment is Bulls**t (Video)

On this week’s episode of Real Time, host Bill Maher decided to tackle the biggest political issue out there today: gun control. Noting that there was a tiny amount of movement from politicians on this subject over the past few days, Maher wondered why it seemed like all of the proposed legislation felt so empty.

“After the tragedy at Newtown, there was talk about banning assault weapons – that’s completely dead. And then the other thing they wanted to do was limit the number of clips in a gun – that’s completely dead. So now we’re down to background checks,” he said.

“So they came up with a bill, it’s called – this is the one that we’re allowed to debate, thank Jesus, we’re allowed to actually debate it, this is seen as a victory – it’s called the Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act. Everybody gets a little tug in there. And what they’re debating is so marginal.”

Maher blamed the slow pace and unimpressive legislation that had been proposed on his own side. The 57-year-old cited liberals’ tendency to not question as Second Amendment as the root of all problems.

“I’m sorry, but this is the problem with the gun debate is that it’s a constant center-right debate. There’s no left in this debate. Everyone on the left is so afraid to say what should be said which is, ‘The Second Amendment is bullsh**t,’” Maher said.
