Comedian Bill Cosby, 78, sent his first tweet in months the day after he appeared in a Pennsylvania courtroom to face sexual assault charges.
The response he received was anything but supportive.
Cosby faces three felony charges of aggravated indecent assault, stemming from a 2004 accusation by Andrea Costand in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, CNN reports. Costand alleges Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his Philadelphia home.
A plea has not been entered by Cosby, but he has denied any misconduct towards Costand.
"Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law,” Cosby’s attorneys said in a statement released after his arraignment.
In 2006, Cosby settled a civil suit brought against him by Costand.
Cosby has been accused of sexual assaulting more than 50 women throughout his career. The Costand case is the first time he will face criminal charges for his alleged attacks.
