Bernie Madoff May Have $9 Billion Socked Away

Bernie Madoff could still have $9 billion of his ill-gotten money. The convicted Ponzi schemer has reportedly told his fellow inmates that he secretly funneled the money to three people before he was arrested.

An inmate tells the New York Post that those names could be made known in a deal with prosecutors.

The inmate says Madoff's partner in crime, Frank DiPascali, knows who has they money. He suspects that DiPascali is using that information to cut a better deal.

"I think it was personal friends," the inmate said of the people who are holding the billions of stolen dollars.

DiPascal pleaded guilty last year to 10 felonies in connection with helping Madoff swindle investors out of more than $60 billion. He is reportedly trying to avoid the same life sentence that Madoff is serving by cooperating with prosecutors

Neither DiPascali's lawyer, Marc Mukasey, nor prosecutors would comment to the Post about the claims.
