Assistant Manager At California Burger King Discovers Bag With $100,000 Cash (Video)

An assistant manager at a California Burger King restaurant was shocked when she discovered a bag containing $100,000 cash inside of a booth.

According to reports, assistant manager Sahista Bakawla first spotted the blue backpack in a booth at the San Jose fast food restaurant, and after some time sitting with it, nobody came back to retrieve it.

"I twice cleaned, like two or three times cleaned the tables and it's still here," said Bakawla to ABC 7 News. "I waited until 3 p.m. and nobody came here.”

After nobody came back to retrieve it, Bakawla decided to call the restaurant’s owner and tell him about the bag, not knowing what was inside. The owner quickly came in, opened the bag, and was shocked to see the large amount of cash.

“I open the zipper, I see lots of money, cash money, $100 bills stack up like half the bag, money,” said owner Atlaf Chaus. “I said, 'Wow! Today's my birthday, this is my birthday gift.'”

He ultimately decided, however, that he needed to do the right thing and return the cash.

“I've been in this country 26 years and I worked two jobs for 15 years before I bought this Burger King," Chaus said. "So I'm a very hardworking man. I don't want that money, maybe it belongs to somebody."

The bag is now in the custody of police officers who are actively searching for the owner after discovering $100,000 cash, some candy, a bag of marijuana, and a bank slip.
