Baby Buys Car Online With Dad’s Phone And Gets Good Deal

A Portland, Ore., man got a huge surprise when he received a note from eBay congratulating him on his purchase of a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite for $225. The bigger surprise might have come from learning that the purchase was made by his daughter, who likes to play with her father’s smartphone.

“Tap, tap, tap and now I own a car,” Paul Stoute stated. “Fortunately, she didn’t buy the $38,000 Porsche.”

Stoute noted that his eBay account did have some old cars saved to it as he was interested in fixing-up an older car with a friend. He stated that he’ll rebuild the car that his daughter Sorella purchased on his phone with the intention of giving it to her as a gift for either her 16th birthday or high school graduation.

Stoute and his wife, Christina, have since added password protection to their phones and uninstalled apps that can be used to make a purchase, meaning that Sorella has made her last phone purchase for quite a while.
