The National Rifle Association (NRA) Annual Convention is meeting for three days, beginning today, in Houston, Texas. This year's slogan is "Stand and Fight" and 70,000 NRA members are expected to attend.
Guest speakers for the annual event include Sarah Palin, Ted Nugent, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Rick Santorum, reports the Los Angeles Times.
There is also a gun trade show where folks (including convicted criminals and mentally ill people) can buy guns without a background check, thanks to the GOP Senate defeat of the extended background check bill.
According to ThinkProgress.org, the NRA Convention vendors are marketing items to children including: kids' T-shirts, bibs for babies and rifles for children.
The gun magazine "Women and Guns" can also be found at the convention. The magazine includes profiles of female children and adults promoting guns.
