Body Found In Backyard Of Empty Oklahoma Home (Video)

Residents of an Enid, Oklahoma, neighborhood say they are still reeling after police found a body in the backyard of an empty home on their street.

In videotaped interviews with KFOR News (shown below) those living near the 1600 block of West Randolph Avenue said they can’t believe what is happening in their usually quiet neighborhood.

“We see lights and sirens, and man, this is a whole TV show and we’re outside on the porch watching it,”  Antoine Robinson said.

“They came out with the masks up, and I heard them talking a little bit about, saying a body was back there decayed or something,” neighbor Chris Boone said during an interview.

Police found the body late Tuesday evening, according to KOCO News.

Enid Police Capt. Jack Morris said the former occupants of the home reported the body.

“They came back home to pick up some items and noticed an odor, and when checking that odor, they determined it was a body,” Morris told KFOR.

Police said they are ruling out foul play for now and they have a strong suspicion that the body might be that of a 47-year-old woman who was recently reported missing just a few blocks away.

Though police did not name the woman when speaking with KFOR, her story was mentioned by KOCO who had reported only Monday that her family was looking for her.

Jessica Walker told KOCO her aunt, Doreen Ward, hadn’t been seen since July 27. Family members said Ward suffers from schizophrenia and is badly in need of her medication.

Ward’s 47th birthday was Aug. 3. Her family members told KOCO Monday they believed she was somewhere in the area of the 2000 block of West Broadway Avenue which runs parallel to Randolph, one block to the south.

Anyone who has seen Ward is being asked to contact Enid Police Department Sgt. Justin Hodges at (580) 242-7000.

In the meantime, the medical examiner’s office is working with Ward’s family to determine if the recently discovered body belongs to their loved one, KFOR reports.
