Attorney Allegedly Raped Woman Who Refused to Have Sex with Judge

COLUMBUS – After a woman refused to have sex with a judge, an Ohio attorney allegedly raped her in a courthouse conference room.

In her testimony, the woman claims that criminal defense attorney Javier Armengau told her that the judge was “in his pocket.” The woman’s son was Armengau’s client; the woman claims that Armengau told her she could obtain a favorable sentence for her son if she would agree to perform oral sex on the judge.

She claims that after refusing his request, Armengau sexually assaulted her in a conference room.

As the Columbus Dispatch reports, the woman claims that on at least 10 of her visits to Armengau’s office, he “stripped naked and masturbated in front of her.”

“The rape, she said, occurred when Armengau took her into a conference room outside the courtroom after her son’s sentencing and forced her to perform oral sex on him,” The Columbus Dispatch noted.

The woman is not alone in her allegations against the attorney. In fact, five women in total have brought accusations against Armengau.

He was arrested on April 11, 2013 on multiple sex-related charges.

He is currently on trial for six charges of rape, five counts of sexual battery, three counts each of gross sexual imposition and kidnapping, and one count of public indecency.

The attorney, however, maintains that the accusations are not true.

“I have not engaged in any wrongful conduct nor have I done anything that should warrant a complaint,” he said on Monday.

According to the Marion Star, the Columbus Bar Association has requested that the Ohio Supreme Court suspend Armengau’s law license.
