An armed supporter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stood outside the campaign office of Democratic congressional candidate Jane Dittmar in Fluvanna County, Virginia, on Oct. 13 for nearly 12 hours (video below).
Daniel Parks, who has a legal permit for his handgun, told CBS 19:
I'm just trying to provide a voice for some of the people that might be closet supporters of Trump. Other people that are a little worried to speak out because of possible persecution and stuff. I just wanted to provide you all with a voice and let you know that there's more of us out there than you think.
According to Real Clear Politics, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton currently leads Trump in Virginia in five polls with an average 9.4 percent spread.
Parks suggested that Clinton should be locked up, but didn't say specifically why:
Prior service member, I was charged with working on different weapon systems throughout the U.S. military and if I had done a quarter of what Mrs. Clinton had done I would be serving a mandatory of ten years time in a federal penitentiary.
Su Wolff, a Dittmar volunteer, told the news station:
[Parks] was saying that my candidate was a liar, and I explained to him that this is the Jane Dittmar office and Jane is paying for this office... And he turned sideways to be sure that we would see that he had an open carry gun, which is legal, it's fine, but it's intimidating.
At some point during his protest, Parks was joined by another armed Trump supporter, Aaron Wissinger.
Parks said: "We're not a threat to anybody, the only threat is ignorance, and ignorance will breed fear."
"And if he wants to support his candidate that's fine, but don't come here and stare into the office all day, and expose your weapons," Wolff added.
Parks intends to keep up his armed protest for Trump.
"[Trump] might be pulling out [of Virginia], but we're not pulling out, and I'm going to stand my ground and I'm going to speak out for what I believe in and I encourage everyone else to do the same," Parks stated.
