An Arizona inmate has filed 5,813 federal lawsuits, most of them against the prison food.
Dale Maisano, 62, is an inmate in Florence, Arizona, serving 15 years for aggravated assault.
He has filed 3,356 lawsuits in courts across the county this year alone. He says he isn’t being fed well or being given proper medical attention.
"Stop the torture and give me food that will not make me ill,” said one complaint.
"Daily I'm given a diet that causes the Plaintiff to be severely ill,” said another.
He’s asked for up to $10 trillion in damages or gold.
"I don't have any delusions I'm going to get that kind of money. I don't have any delusions I'm going to get any money," Maisano told The Tennessean. "A lot of them are just nuisance suits. We're trying to get our point across."
A spokesman for the Arizona Department of Corrections says his claims are bogus.
"Inmate Maisano has access to appropriate health care and his diet needs are met," said Doug Nick. "The sheer volume of the lawsuits he has filed and the financial demands he makes speak for themselves."
In 1992, a judge reportedly tried to curb his lawsuit filing by forbidding him to make a claim without the court’s permission. Maisano ignored the order.
His busiest day was on Jan. 24, 2014, when he filed 249 lawsuits in one day.
