One Arizona couple can rest easy now that they’ve won two lotteries within a 17 year period.
Diane and Kerry Carmichael might not seem like the happiest people in the world, but they won a $1 million Powerball prize after winning a $2.5 prize in December of 1995.
Their second win comes just one year before their first win’s annuity is set to expire.
“It was my ticket this time, the first time it was his ticket, so, I got the thrill of saying, ‘I won,’” Mrs. Carmichael said.
The couple received their last win in annual payments of $125,000, which is going to expire in December 2014.
Diane has hope that this is just a sign of things to come.
“Good things come in threes. Two down, one to go,” she said.
The Carmichael’s latest win is the 19th $1 million second-prize Powerball win in Arizona since 2012.
Across the nation, second prize wins for the new Powerball happened more than 500 times.
As for what they plan to do with their money, they didn’t give any details, but said they will “resist the urge to splurge.”
