Angela Maier Admits To Poisoning Two Women Leading To Miscarriages After Miscarriage Of Her Own

A woman in Austria has been sentenced by a court to 18 months in jail, with 14 months suspended, after admitting that she poisoned two other women, resulting in them to suffer miscarriages. She reportedly did it after her own miscarriage.

Angela Maier, 26, had suffered three miscarriages and apparently couldn’t handle it when she found out that both her sister-in-law and best friend were pregnant, according to Mail Online.

Maier reportedly poisoned the pregnant mothers’ drinks with medicine that she was prescribed following her miscarriage.

Austrian Times reports that the court heard how the woman and her best friend had become pregnant at the same time, and had been shopping for baby clothes and planning together. After the friend also lost her baby, the pair had suffered together.

The friend reportedly said, “I asked for a glass of water, and she said she had a special drink for pregnant women, that she didn't need any more. A short while later I started to bleed, and then I lost the baby. When I found out what she had done, I wrote back and told her she was a murderer. I can’t forgive her.”

Shortly after poisoning the first woman, Maier had her sister-in-law over for a visit and did the same thing again, mixing the medicine into her drink.

“[Maier] watched me as I drank it,” the victim told the court.

Maier, who now has a 3-year-old daughter, eventually confessed two years later in a letter to both women after she learned that they were once again pregnant.

“You maliciously took the lives of two unborn babies,” Judge Michaela Sanin stated.
