Actress Amber Tamblyn said she believes the recent allegations of sexual assault and harassment against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein would have never come to light if former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had become president.
Tamblyn, 34, spoke with Cosmopolitan about President Donald Trump, and how his presidency has affected Hollywood and women across the country, the Daily Mail reported.
While Trump has been subjected to a substantial amount of criticism from people all across the political spectrum, Tamblyn said there is a silver lining to the cloud she feels is his presidency.
"I think that without him being elected, if it had been Hillary Clinton, this would've never happened to Harvey Weinstein," the actress said. "I feel like the election of Donald Trump was a singular pointed message at women telling us that our lives don't matter, and that our safety doesn't matter, and that our physical health doesn't matter, our reproductive rights don't matter, that our gender just doesn't matter, and that we are somehow owned by the country."
Tamblyn added that she believes Trump is the epitome of "everything that is deeply wrong with masculinity and with the objectification of women." She said that Trump becoming president was the final straw for women to just say, "I'm done."
Earlier this year, Tamblyn shared her own story of sexual harassment, claiming fellow actor James Woods attempted to pick her up when she was 16.
Trump has been accused of sexual harassment by more than 12 women since running for president. When asked about the allegations again on Oct. 27, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the president stands by his position that the women accusing him of such acts are lying.
Trump took to Twitter on Oct. 29 to condemn Democrats, Clinton. and the Russia investigation.
"Never seen such Republican ANGER & UNITY as I have concerning the lack of investigation on Clinton made Fake Dossier (now $12,000,000?), the Uranium to Russia deal, the 33,000 plus deleted Emails, the Comey fix and so much more," the president tweeted. "Instead they look at phony Trump/Russia 'collusion,' which doesn't exist."
"The Dems are using this terrible (and bad for our country) Witch Hunt for evil politics, but the R's are now fighting back like never before," Trump continued. "There is so much GUILT by Democrats/Clinton, and now the facts are pouring out. DO SOMETHING!
"All of this 'Russia' talk right when the Republicans are making their big push for historic Tax Cuts & Reform. Is this coincidental? NOT!"
