A police officer in Florida was allegedly refused service at a Wal-Mart for simply showing up in uniform.
A St. Cloud police officer went to a Wal-Mart to purchase some items, but was refused service, WFTV reports. The cashier allegedly pointed to her skin color before telling the officer she was refusing to ring him up.
The incident came to light after someone posted about it in a community Facebook group. Responses came in, and a friend of the officer who witnessed the incident confirmed it did in fact happen.
This is not the first time an incident like this has occurred in Florida. WGN reports that a Florida Arby's restaurant had to apologize after one of its employees refused to serve a police officer in uniform. Arby's said "disciplinary action would be taken."
Wal-Mart has so far declined to comment on the incident, saying “This is an unfortunate situation, but we cannot comment on an active HR investigation.”
