Albuquerque Fifth Grade Teacher Suspended After Telling Students He Raped His Wife

An unnamed teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was suspended after he told his fifth grade class that he raped his first wife. Several of the 11-year-old students immediately went to the principal to report what the teacher said.

According to Daily Mail, the teacher was put on paid leave on Monday. The incident happened at Hawthorne Elementary about a week ago.

Margie Brooks is the mother of one of the students that was in the class. She told ABC7 that she was horrified by the teacher’s remarks. She added that the school did not react to the problem fast enough.

Brooks explained, “The minute that allegation was made by these kids I would have done something about it.”

“I made him explain it to me over and over, because I just couldn’t fathom a teacher discussing this with 11-year-olds,” she added.

The Albuquerque Public School system confirmed that a teacher was suspended on Monday. They reported that he had been a full-time teacher since January but has worked in the school district since last August.

The man has not been charged with a crime, but the school is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.
