African Businessman Reportedly Cut Out Man's Heart While He Was Still Alive And Ate It

A Zimbabwean businessman has been arrested and suspected of cannibalism and murder after he reportedly stabbed a South African man, ripped out his heart and ate it, reports The Citizen.

Andrew Chimboza, 35, allegedly killed Mbuyiselo Manona, 62, in “self defense” on June 10 at the home of one of his clients. The suspect, who owns a window-tinting business, says Manona called him several offensive names, including “moffie,” which means “gay,” reports the Daily Mail. In a statement, Chimboza allegedly admitted to Cape Town police that he sat on the man, stabbed him in the chest, sliced out his heart with a knife, and then ate it because he wanted to prove to Manona that he was not gay.

“The reason for me to eat the unknown guy’s heart was to show him that I am not a moffie and after I finished eating the heart, I realized he was dead,” Chimboza reportedly said in his statement.

Investigating officer Constable Mphumelelo Yengwa said the officer who arrested Chimboza found him chewing on raw flesh and that Manona’s neck had been “half-eaten.” The organ meat had been found with a fork in it and Chimboza reportedly said, “I love you Nomonde [Manona's girlfriend]. You are my wife. I did everything for free” as cops made a move to apprehend him.

An autopsy performed on the victim substantiated the claims that his heart had been removed from his body while he was still alive.

But Chimboza says the statement police claim he gave was not accurate and that they assaulted him before they twisted his words.

Instead, the suspect says he fought with Manona and stabbed him, but that was as far as it went. “The way I was continually stabbing, that must have ripped his heart out,” Chimboza said. “Because I was in a shocked state.”

Police found blood on Chimboza’s face, but the businessman claims it was from an injury to the head that he received while fighting with the victim, as well as blood from Manona’s own wounds.
