A Nevada home surveillance camera captured footage of a driver abandoning a puppy. The confused 6-month-old lab mix could then be seen trying to follow the SUV when it drove away.
A Las Vegas area family took the dog in and are now looking for a good home. They hope that someone recognizes the vehicle in the video. Animal abuse is a misdemeanor in Clark County, which carries a $1,000 fine.
May 5 surveillance footage showed the puppy being dumped in a Henderson, Nev., surburb. She tries to follow the vehicle, to no avail.
“I just feel really bad that someone could actually just open the car door and just dump this beautiful animal,” Toni Luisi told local TV station KLAS.
Luisi found the puppy, who she calls Graci, at the gate of her home and has been caring for her until they find her forever-home.
“I mean, how do they treat their children if this is how they treat their dog?” she asked.
Luisi asks that anyone who could offer Graci a good home should email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“We’re gonna keep her as long as we can,” Luisi said. “I mean, it would be better, because she’s so young, to get into a stable environment now so that people can get used to her, train her the way they would like her to be trained. But I’ll keep her until… we find a good home.”
