8.8 Earthquake Hits Chile, Aftershocks and Tsunamis Follow

At least 147 people are dead after a massive 8.8 earthquake hit Chile this morning. According to Sky News, "buildings collapsed and power was cut in the capital Santiago, but there are fears that the damage could be much worse in the second city of Concepcion." The tremor reached 8.8 on the Richter scale and several strong aftershocks followed. The White House has said the U.S. is ready to help Chile in its ''hour of need."
