After just an hour of deliberation, a jury in Clovis, New Mexico, found Eusebio Jasper, 64, guilty of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, only identified as Victoria.
Victoria now has a 3-year-old son, fathered by Jasper. Although DNA evidence confirmed Jasper’s paternity, he vehemently denied it in court. “I didn’t do this,” he said.
Jasper began raping Victoria before she turned 13, but continued after that.
Jasper was dating the Victoria’s grandmother at the time of the assaults. Neither the grandmother or Victoria’s mother believed the girl was telling the truth, even as evidence mounted against Jasper. “I know it’s not true,” the grandmother said, even after DNA evidence was presented in court. According to KOAT, the victim and her infant son are now being cared for by Victoria's father.
Moments after Jasper was declared guilty, a brawl broke out in the courtroom. Family members fought bailiffs as Jasper was handcuffed. Jasper faces a minimum of 18 years behind bars, but he could serve more than 30 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set by the judge.
Jasper is no stranger to prison. In 1989, he was convicted of murdering his wife and served seven years behind bars.
