A 60-year-old man from Atascocita, Texas, reportedly shot two young women who broke into his house Wednesday afternoon.
At around 1 p.m., the two women allegedly drove up to the man’s home in a stolen vehicle and knocked on his door several times. When he failed to answer it, they reportedly broke a window and entered his house, reports click2houston.com.
The women barely made it inside when the man, who was home alone, reportedly shot them both once each in the chest. He reportedly used a shotgun loaded with buckshot ammo, reports ABC 13.
“One was still inside the house and the other one had fled outside the house and collapsed in the yard across the street,” said Walter Stensland of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
The women’s names have not been released, but police say one was 17 years old and the other was in her mid-20s. They had to be airlifted from a soccer field at a local school so they could receive treatment at Memorial Hermann Hospital. They are both reportedly in critical condition.
The older suspect may be paralyzed because of a spinal cord injury, according to police, while the teen may lose an arm.
The homeowner reportedly called 911 twice when he realized his house was being broken into. He was unharmed during the incident.
