Five years after authorities deemed her innocent in the murder of her child, Casey Anthony is once more embracing her motherly side.
Photos show the 30-year-old holding a small Yorkshire Terrier after picking it up from the groomer in Florida, TMZ reports.
While Anthony adopted the dog four-and-a-half years ago, the recent pictures captured national attention on the July 5 anniversary of Anthony’s acquittal.
Many are upset to see her caring for another innocent creature.
One user wrote on TMZ’s Facebook page, “the dog will meet an untimely death as soon as it becomes inconvenient. she should have been barred from possessing anything with a pulse."
Anthony was charged with murdering her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008, Biography.com reports.
The child’s remains were found in a plastic bag near Anthony’s home.
Casey’s mother called the police to report her daughter after claiming Anthony’s car smelled like a dead body.
After a lengthy trial that ended July 5, 2011, and sparked controversy nationwide, authorities said she was not guilty.
She was released, with the jury explaining the only “proof” against her was circumstantial evidence.
The verdict outraged the American public, which believed in staggering numbers that Anthony was guilty.
Since then, Casey has lived a “boring” life in Florida, People Magazine reports.
"She's got enough money to live, but not enough to really do anything," said a source. "She sort of lives like an old person, on a fixed income without much going on in her life. She's bored, and she complains about boredom all the time."
The unidentified individual added that the trial stained her reputation, contributing to the monotony.
"She gets up each day, hangs around, checks the internet, takes some pictures, and doesn't do much. She can't hold a real job, and she doesn't really make a lot of friends, for obvious reasons. When people find out about her history, they usually bail on her. She's 30, with very few friends her age,” they said.
