A Milwaukee man and a 15-year-old boy were gunned down moments after the man struck and killed a 2-year-old girl when she ran out in front of his van.
Reports say that the tragic turn of events happened on Sunday after Archie Brown Jr. accidentally struck and killed a 2-year-old girl with his van after she ran out into the street.
Brown stuck around at the scene in his van after the accident while waiting for police to arrive, and, in what authorities believe was probably an act of revenge, he was fatally shot in the head by an unidentified gunman. A 15-year-old bystander at the scene was also fatally shot.
Police are now on the hunt for the gunman, and Milwaukee Alderman Joe Davis Sr. said in a statement that this sort of revenge is never justified or acceptable.
“I know that the people in that house may have been very, very upset about the incident — the vehicular incident that occurred, but you don’t solve these types of things with guns, and start shooting and taking other people’s lives,” Davis said, according to the Daily Mail.
Archie Brown Sr., father of the 41-year-old driver who was fatally shot, expressed his shock and sadness upon learning that his son had been killed.
“My son's just been murdered,” the grieving father told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “If I am a man of God and I believe in the Bible, nothing happens without a reason. What is the reason, I don’t know. It’s terrible. My son has gone to eternity.”
Archie Brown Jr. was reportedly an entrepreneur with four daughters at home, including a 6-month-old. Police are still actively investigating the triple tragedy.
