A Bronx woman, Carmen Cabrera, was savagely attacked on by two Pit Bulls as she was walking to the corner store on May 5. The 62-year-old grandmother tried to defend herself as the determined dogs broke away from the caretaker who was walking them.
The incident was captured on surveillance video and was reported by the Daily Mail on May 7, 2012. Photos show the dogs intent on attack and grabbing Cabrera’s arm in their jaws.
"They just attacked me and pinned me against the corner of the refrigerator of the store," Ms Cabrera told Fox News. "I was trying to block them because they were trying to go for my face."
The man who was walking the dogs finally was able to pull the dogs off the woman and then started beating them as she ran away.
Ms. Cabrera said she is just is thankful she was wearing a coat that day. “ If I didn't have the jacket on, they would have ripped my whole arm apart," she said.
The police report lists the owner of the dogs as a woman. It is not clear why a man was caring for the animals at the time of the attack. Ms. Cabrera says she wants the dogs removed from the neighborhood.
