Two other juveniles were also arrested in connection with the death of the 74-year-old Greensboro man. Brown’s body was found at about 6 a.m. July 29.

Police said Brown was assaulted and robbed by multiple individuals. He was attacked while walking to a bus stop and died from his injuries, Fox 8 reported.

An investigation along with Crime Stoppers tips led to the first arrest in the case of the 17-year-old boy, police announced. All three suspects were reported to be in custody as of Aug. 4.

In addition to the 17-year-old, a 14-year-old and 15-year-old were also arrested in connection with Brown’s murder.

“We were able to identify the suspects as a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old male and the 16-year-old that we announced,” said Greensboro Police Captain Mike Richey. Richey included that although 16 at the time of the crime, the boy turned 17 that day.

According to Richey, all three suspects are from Greensboro.

“These three individuals robbed Brown of items of minimal value and he lost his life for just a senseless crime,” Richey said. “There is indication that these three could have been involved with some minor crimes in the area, earlier in the evening but nothing that rose to this level or this style.”
