15-Year-Old Boy Charged With Attempted Homicide After Argument With Mom Over iPhone

A Pennsylvania teenager is in jail accused of trying to kill his mother after she confiscated his iPhone. Police in Schuylkill County said the 15-year-old attacked his mother and left her hospitalized.

Joseph Grutza was charged as an adult with attempted homicide after attacking his mother in their home outside of Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania.

WNEP reported that Joseph lost his temper after his mother tried to take his iPhone from him. He bit her on the back and started beating her.

Joseph’s mother, Kymberly Grutza, said: “He grabbed me and bit me on my back. He then started beating me and took the rope from my robe and placed it around my neck and started suffocating me."

He also reportedly stomped on Kymberly's body.

Joseph’s father ran outside to get help and yelled: “He’s beating his mother! I don’t know what to do with him!”

“He then placed his hands around my windpipe and kept repeating, ‘I’m going to kill you!'” the teen's mother told police.

Police arrived and said the house was wrecked. Joseph was pounding his head against the wall while his mother was on the ground, struggling to breathe.

Joseph is being held on $150,000 bail in the Schuylkill County Jail. His next hearing is on May 21, according to PA Homepage.
