During a rally for Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, a 15-year-old female protestor was allegedly groped by an older supporter and then pepper-sprayed by a young man (video below).
On Mar. 29, Trump supporters and protesters mingled outside of a Holiday Inn Express in Janesville, Wisconsin, Huffington Post reports.
The terse exchanges between the business mogul’s fans and detractors peaked when a young woman became involved in a verbal shouting match with a white-haired man, the Washington Post reports.
The young woman was holding a sign that read “Damn Donald - Back At It Again w/ The White Supremacy” all in capital letters. This prompted one man dressed in Trump memorabilia to shout, “Stop doing crime, blacks, stop doing crime.”
The white-haired man appeared to brandish a piece of paper against the young protestor, prodding her chest with the sheet. Eventually the young woman cursed him out and demanded “Stop [expletive] touching me.”
The young protester began to loudly accuse the older man of touching her breasts. Among the witnesses who filmed the escalating scene, Derek Hauger later claimed, “The man never touched her like she said. She was just looking for trouble.”
Eventually the young woman threw a punch against the older Trump supporter. Shortly after her first swing, a young man, who was wearing a Trump “Make America Great Again” novelty hat, lunged from behind the older man and unloaded pepper spray directly into her face.
Stunned, the young woman retreated while members of the crowd taunted her, the older man who she had accused of inappropriately touching her laughing.
“Take out the trash” one Trump supporter said while another congratulated the young man who had temporarily blinded the young woman.
The Janesville Police Department is investigating the incident.
“A male in the crowd groped the 15 year old girl, when she pushed him away; another person in the crowd sprayed her,” Janesville Chief David Moore wrote on a press release on Nixle. “We are currently looking for two suspects, one for the sexual assault and one for the pepper spray.”
Trump rallies have seen repeated clashes between supporters and protesters. Critics of the business mogul have accused his controversial rhetoric for encouraging violence.
