A 15-year-old Alaska boy was arrested after a mother and daughter were found murdered in their home on Jan. 5.
Shannon Duke, 40, and Chloe Duke, 18, were shot and killed in their Anchorage, Alaska, home, KTUU reports. The young boy had lived with both of them; however, it’s unclear how he was related to them.
The boy’s father had returned home and was the first to find the mother and daughter dead, police said. Although officers reportedly found a gun at the scene, they would not confirm where it was found.
A truck was missing from the scene when the boy's father returned. The boy was later found inside the truck around 8 p.m. after police tracked him down.
Following the death of the victims, their friends reached out on social media.
“Shannon Duke, you helped me and loved me through the darkest of my days, you reminded me of the love that still exists in this world,” one friend wrote, according to the Daily Mail.
The friend went on to say that Chloe was just starting out her life and that she was full of goodness and grace.
The boy is currently behind bars at the McLaughlin Youth Center. Because of his age, police declined to identify him.
Since the investigation is ongoing, police also declined to offer any more information.
