Two kidnappers are demanding $10,000 for the return of a 14-year-old Georgia girl who they abducted during a home invasion Tuesday morning.

An Amber Alert was issued for Ayvani Hope Perez yesterday.

Two armed men broke into the Perez’s back door around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday. Perez’s mother said she tried to hide her two children, but the gunmen found them and demanded money and jewelry. When their demands were met they took the youngest child, Ayvani.

Police say the gunmen also shot the family dog, which survived.

Now the family is trying to raise the $10,000 to meet the kidnappers’ demands.

More than 150 people gathered outside Dutchtown High School in Hampton Tuesday night to pray for the 14-year-old, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Ayvani was a student at Dutchtown Middle School.

“I possibly have a chance to never see her again,” former classmate Nina Richardson told AJC. “On so many levels, it just feels so unreal.”

Ayvani’s mother, Maria Perez was hospitalized Tuesday after several fainting spells. Her ex-husband and Ayvani’s father, Alberto Perez, flew in to Atlanta from El Paso, Texas, yesterday.

His sister, Suky Guerrero, drove him to the airport.

“My brother doesn’t have a clue,” Guerrero told AJC. “He doesn’t have any money like that.”

“He was devastated, not knowing what to do,” she added.

The home invasion appeared to be a random attack. The family did not know the two gunmen.

“It didn’t appear that they knew each other,” said police spokesman Officer Phong Nguyen. “They just moved in about a month ago.”

“We always have police around this area,” said Maties Otalis, a father of four, who has lived in the area for two years. “I don’t expect such to happen in my neighborhood. I feel like moving out of this area.”

“This is the time for the Clayton community and the community as a whole to come together,” said Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter. “We’re trying to make sure that we bring her some safely.”

The ransom has not been delivered yet.

The FBI is aiding in the search for the girl.
