A 13-year-old Brooklyn girl’s quick thinking may have saved her from being raped.
The girl and the suspect encountered each other in her Coney Island building’s elevator at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the girl told investigators.
The man barged into the elevator and pulled out a pair of scissors. He threatened her, forced her out of the elevator and pounced on her, she said.
But she kept her cool and outsmarted the scissors-wielding nutjob who was intent on raping her, police said.
“She has a chain on,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said. “She takes it, throws it on the ground to distract him, and is then able to run and get away.”
The suspect was "unable to complete his act and fled," said a police spokesperson.
The girl was not injured.
The suspect, whom cops describe as in his 30s, was last spotted wearing black clothing and a beanie.
