Police arrested a 50-year-old California man after a 13-year-old girl escaped from his truck and said he had raped her.
Timothy Lee Marble called police on April 1 at around 5 a.m. to report the girl had gone missing from his truck. While police were questioning Marble, the girl emerged from nearby bushes and told officers the man had sexually assaulted her, leading to Marble's arrest, according to a statement from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
While interviewing the girl, detectives learned she had run away from her home in Napa on March 30 after having a fight with her mother. She met Marble while she was at a gas station near her home and he offered to give her a ride in his truck.
The man drove her to an unknown location where the two smoked marijuana and Marble reportedly attempted to make sexual advances toward the teen. When the girl rejected him, Marble allegedly tied her to a tree before raping her.
The pair then drove on, and the girl says Marble convinced her to use methamphetamine. Marble reportedly used a syringe to inject the girl with the drug.
The girl also said her captor used a razor blade to cut her leg, and mark his name into her skin. Detectives found the name on the girl's skin.
He also reportedly sexually assaulted the girl two more times before she managed to escape while they were in Bodega Bay. She ran into nearby bushes and said that Marble told her to come out and that he was going to kill her.
When Marble couldn't find the girl, he called 911 to say that she had jumped out of his car, eventually leading to his arrest. After the girl's daring escape, police took her to a local hospital to treat her injuries, and reunited the teen with her mother.
Marble, who has a long criminal history and has been convicted on felony drug charges, was charged with sexual assault of a minor, child abuse and kidnapping. He has been booked into the Sonoma County Jail without bail.
In another story of kidnapping, a Tennessee teenager was reportedly abducted by her former teacher in late March.
Tad Cummins, 50, has been accused of kidnapping former student Elizabeth Thomas, 15, CNN reports. The pair were seen in a recording from a Wal-Mart surveillance camera in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, giving Elizabeth's parents hope that their daughter may be found soon.
"My precious little girl is out there, and we have to bring her home," said father Anthony Thomas. Anthony said watching the surveillance video gave him "mixed emotions."
"It was good to be able to see her face, finally," said the father.
Cummins, who has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor and aggravated kidnapping, has been added to Tennessee's "Top 10 Most Wanted" list.
