A 13-year-old boy allegedly kissed a 14-year-old girl at Pikesville Middle School in Maryland on Wednesday, resulting in a criminal charge.
Baltimore County school officials took a report of the alleged unwanted kiss, which was performed on a dare from other students.
According to Baltimore County Police, the boy was charged with second-degree assault as a juvenile.
Police say no one was injured during the alleged kiss.
Any suspension or expulsion of the alleged offender will be the responsibility of Baltimore County school officials.
Reason.com opines, "By all means, give this kid detention. Make him apologize to the girl. Tell his parents to teach him better manners."
"But don't charge him with assault. That would be a far greater crime than a stolen kiss."
