When mother Lindsey Combs walked into Wal-Mart near Whitesburg, Kentucky, to pick up some Christmas gifts, she didn’t expect her 14-month-old daughter to pick up illegal drugs.
“I didn’t even know what to say … It’s very shocking that that was just laying on the floor at Wal-Mart,” Combs told WYMT of the incident.
As Combs, her husband and their two children were standing in line at the store to see Santa Claus, Combs’ 14-month-old daughter picked up a bag filled with an unknown substance, which was later identified as methamphetamine, WYMT reports.
Combs immediately told her daughter to put the bag on the floor. That’s when she realized the bag was full of drugs.
“It’s not the first time this has happened,” Police Chief Tyrone Fields said. “People will drop pills out of their pockets, needles out of their pocket.”
Investigators later reviewed surveillance video and discovered that the meth had been dropped. Wal-Mart was able to go back through its own footage and pull the customer’s receipt from lay-away. Now, a suspect has been named.
Police noted they plan to file felony charges.
