Andrew Garfield wants his ‘Spiderman’ character to stray his spidey web all over someone of the same sex. According to the actor, he believes it would be an interesting spin on the romantic tale if the main love interest ‘MJ’ turned out to be a boy for once. He would love for Spiderman to be exploring his sexuality and thinks they could take the story to a new place:
”I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking! … So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”
When asked who he would cast as Spiderman’s gay love interest if given the choice, Andrew thinks that Michael B. Jordan would be perfect for the part:
”I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better – we’d have interracial bisexuality!”
Commenting on the surprise cut of Shailene Woodley who was set to play MJ in the upcoming film, Andrew says that while it’s unfortunate, it makes sense for the story to be that way:
”Of course I’m bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason. Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film.”
Police are on the hunt for a person dressed as Spider-Man after the masked web-slinger snatched a paper bag filled with $6,000 in cash and credit card information from an employee of the Starlines Tour Bus company.
Friday morning, a worker was leaving Starlines Tour Bus corporate office on Hollywood Boulevard. That’s when a person in a Spider Man costume appeared and stole the paper bag.
Ever since, police have been rounding up other Spider Man impersonators in the area, who were “milling around” at the same time the theft occurred. This has led to several amusing photo ops for tourists, as the headquarters is located near the TCL Chinese Theatre, a tourist hotbed.
In any other part of the country, such a crime would be considered pretty outlandish. But on Hollywood Boulevard, no one noticed anything unusual, as a person in a Spider-Man costume grabbed the cash and presumably ran away.
No arrests have been made, but police say the investigation is ongoing.
