Investigators have discovered that a Florida teacher who confessed to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy left another school six years ago after they investigated her for comments she made about an eighth grade student.
Jennifer Fitcher, 29, was recently arrested for having sex with a 17-year-old student dozens of times in the back of her pickup truck in Lakeland, Florida. In this case, the boy’s parents made the shocking discovery.
"The mother thought there was some suspicious activity with her son disappearing at the early morning hours," said Sgt. Gary Gross to the NY Daily News. "She started looking at his text messages and noticed he was conversing with two different females. At that point, he called the teacher. She admitted that they had been in love and that they had been having sex."
After being arrested, Fitcher told authorities that she had, at one point, become pregnant with the teen’s child, but decided to have an abortion.
Shockingly, the teacher’s history of inappropriate behavior with underage students doesn’t end there. Back in 2008, Fitcher left an Orange County school after they launched an investigation following comments she reportedly made about an eighth grade student. According to reports, Fitcher had confessed to another teacher that the student, “makes me melt into a puddle with those eyes,” and that she had recently had a sex dream about him.
"Oh my goodness, it was a goooood dream!" Fitcher reportedly told her colleague.
Another couple has now come forward saying they have proof that their son has had inappropriate conversations with Fitcher. That couple says they were able to connect the dots when they saw Fitcher’s mug shot on the news after she was arrested.
Sgt. Gross says that he would definitely consider Fitcher to be a sexual predator but cannot yet say if she has actually had sex with any other students.
"I would classify her as a sexual predator based on how she used aliases and lured this guy in," said Gross. "We think there could be other victims and we encourage them to come forward."
Fitcher has been charged with six counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
Lawmakers in Hawaii have agreed to end a strange legal loophole that allowed police officers to have sex with prostitutes. The Associated Press reports that members of the state’s House and Senate are still negotiating the final details of House Bill 1926 but they agree that the strange exemption should end.
Rep. Karl Rhoads, the Democratic chairman of the House Judicial Committee, had originally amended the bill to leave the exemption in place. He did so in the face of a strong lobbying effort by police officials in the state.
Officials argued that the ability to have sex with prostitutes helped undercover officers in the course of their investigations. They also pointed out that the conduct of officers was closely regulated by department policies.
"The procedures and conduct of the undercover officers are regulated by department rules, which by nature have to be confidential,” Honolulu Police Maj. Jerry Inouye told lawmakers, according to Fox News. "Because if prostitution suspects, pimps and other people are privy to that information, they're going to know exactly how far the undercover officer can and cannot go.”
"All allegations of misconduct are investigated and the appropriate disciplinary action taken," Honolulu police spokeswoman, Michelle Yu, wrote in an email.
"It's a really murky area," Rhoads said at the time he proposed the amendment. ”I was reluctant to interfere in something that they face all the time. If they think it's necessary to not have it in the statute, this is one area where I did defer to them and say, 'I hope you're not having sex with prostitutes.’”
He changed his mind Thursday and asked that the bill be returned to its original language. The bill will now bar police from engaging in sex or sadomasochistic acts with prostitutes.
Honolulu police have also dropped their opposition to the bill.
Members from the House and Senate will reconcile their respective versions of the bill before a vote is cast. It must then be signed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie before it becomes law.
Mississippi has one of the highest rate of teen pregnancy in the United States, with 76 percent of teenagers having sex before they graduate high school, but it wasn’t until this year that sex education became a required part of the high school curriculum.
Marie Barnard, a public health worker and one of the parents who fought to bring sex education into Mississippi classrooms, spoke with the Los Angeles Times. The new curriculum has teachers in Oxford, Miss., asking “students to unwrap a piece of chocolate, pass it around class and observe how dirty it became.”
“They're using the Peppermint Pattie to show that a girl is no longer clean or valuable after she's had sex — that she's been used," Barnard said. "That shouldn't be the lesson we send kids about sex.”
The comparison to dirty objects is nothing new. A school district in Texas instructed teachers last year to compare people who have had sex to dirty tooth brushes and sticks of gum, reports Slate.
“People want to marry a virgin, just like they want a virgin toothbrush or stick of gum,” the guide read.
Kidnapping-victim-turned-advocate Elizabeth Smart came forward last year and argued that the analogy is damaging, saying:
“I remember in school one time, I had a teacher who was talking about abstinence. And she said, ‘Imagine you’re a stick of gum. When you engage in sex, that’s like getting chewed. And if you do that lots of times, you’re going to become an old piece of gum, and who is going to want you after that?’ Well, that’s terrible. No one should ever say that. But for me, I thought, ‘I’m that chewed-up piece of gum.’ Nobody re-chews a piece of gum. You throw it away. And that’s how easy it is to feel you no longer have worth. Your life no longer has value.”
Barnard and other Oxford mothers, whom students refer to as “the sex moms,” continue to advocate for a more useful and less insulting sex education curriculum. They have been lobbying for an “abstinence-plus” education that “[urges] abstinence but also [teaches] about contraception.”
A 25-year-old high school teacher was arrested after a police investigation uncovered that she had been having sex with an underage student.
Brittany Marie Phillips, a teacher at Lexington Senior High School in North Carolina, faces felony sex offense charges after the unnamed student admitted to another teacher that he was having a relationship with Phillips.
The victim told police that he had multiple sexual encounters with Phillips between December 2013 and February 2014, and to prove his claims, he brought them a video recording of Phillips performing a sex act on him.
"The juvenile corroborated this statement by explaining that he had a video of Phillips performing [a sex act] on him," wrote Detective Benjamin Clayton of Lexington Police Department in his report. "The juvenile showed me the video, and the video does appear to show Phillips' face."
Following her arrest, Phillips was immediately suspended from the school and her name was taken off the teacher list on the school’s website.
“Right now, the situation is under investigation, and Miss Phillips has been suspended and is not in contact with any students,” said Lexington City Schools Superintendent Rick Kriesky.
Phillips, a first-year teacher, was released on a $50,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.
1124-Year-Old School Security Officer Escapes Jail After Pleading Guilty To Sex With A 15-Year-Old Student
A former security guard at a Norfolk, Virginia high school is being spared jail time after pleading guilty to having sex with a 15-year-old student.
Patience Perez, 24, admitted to having a sexual relationship with the teenager over a period of time. According to reports, the two had sex both at his Virginia Beach home as well as her home in Norfolk. The pair also allegedly discussed a plot to kill Perez’s husband in a series of messages on Facebook, but all charges related to that were dropped.
The 15-year-old boy’s mother went to police about the affair after she found naked photos of Perez on her son’s cell phone, and soon after, the former school security guard was arrested.
Now, a Norfolk judge has agreed to spare Perez jail time if she completes a list of things she must adhere to over the course of one year, including continued counseling, registering as a sex offender, and staying away from the boy and his family.
“We haven’t wrapped our brain around it,” said the boy’s mother to News Channel 3. “It doesn’t make sense. It’s like we endured all this pain all this stress and for this to happen. Just like an arrow to the heart.”
Even though she escaped jail time in Norfolk, Perez will be headed back to court next week in Virginia Beach to face the same charges for having sex with the teen at his home. The boy’s mother hopes that a Virginia Beach judge won’t be as lenient with her and will send her to jail.
“I hope that that prosecutor cares more about my family than Norfolk did,” said the mother.
Despite the murder plot, Perez’s husband has reportedly stuck by her during the trial and was seen holding her hand as they exited the courthouse following the sentencing.
A new bill has been proposed in Massachusetts that would restrict a divorced or soon-to-be-divorced parent’s activities within his/her home.
Specifically, Bill 787 would prohibit a divorcing parent from having sex in his/her own home until the divorce is finalized.
“In divorce, separation, or 209A proceedings involving children and a marital home, the party remaining in the home shall not conduct a dating or sexual relationship within the home until a divorce is final and all financial and custody issues are resolved, unless the express permission is granted by the courts,” states the bill.
The bill was filed by request by Sen. Richard J. Ross, Republican, who proposed it on behalf of constituent Robert LeClair.
As Think Progress reports, Ross is not in support of the bill; instead, he simply proposed it as a courtesy to LeClair, who wrote the bill.
The bill was first filed in early 2013. Last Thursday, it was granted an extension for consideration in the State House until June 30.
Although the bill would attempt to prohibit the sexual activities of a parent in the midst of a divorce, it does not specify what penalty such an act would result in.
Under current Massachusetts law, a waiting period of at least 120 days is required before a divorce becomes official. Bill 787 was referred to the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.
A 19-year-old Kenyan college student has reportedly admitted to being HIV positive and infecting over 300 men out of revenge for being raped at a party.
Although the claims have yet to be proven true, the student allegedly took to Facebook to tell her story and make her public confession.
“I'm 19 and a 2nd year student here at Kabarak University. I joined this college a virgin though I have had boyfriends before, my parents are strict so having sex was never on my mind,” the girl allegedly wrote on Facebook. “September 22nd, 2013, is a day I will never forget, we went clubbing in town and got drunk with some senior students then went back hostels for party around 2am. I remember waking up naked to a guy called Javan with my private part painful and I realized he had sex with me when I was drunk. I only asked if he used a condom and he said yes. However, when taking bath I noticed sperms down there, i wanted to commit suicide, I feared getting pregnant and HIV, I took drug and hoped I was HIV free.”
The girl went on to describe the moment she learned that she was HIV positive as a result of being raped.
“In November, I tested HIV positive, I felt like cutting off my neck,” said the student. “I confronted the guy and he insisted he was clean that I got it from somewhere. I was so depressed and took alcohol to die. I even bought poison, the pain was just unbearable. How was I gonna face the world? I let my parents down. I gave up on the world and just wanted to end my life.”
After trying to commit suicide, the woman decided that she needed to get revenge on men for what was done to her, so she organized a plan to infect as many people as possible.
“Something came up in my mind that I should revenge,” confessed the woman. “I hated men and I didn’t want to be near anymore. My future had been ruined, somehow someone had to pay. After a private therapy sessions, I gained strength not even my parents, friends knew of my conditions even up to now. I accepted my fate and promised to make all men I come across suffer. I know I am attractive and both married and unmarried men chase me left, right and center, luckily, my body has remained good and if anything my curves got better something you men like."
The Kenyan student says that, since December, she has infected over 300 men and has a goal of infecting “at least 2,000.”
“Out of the 324 I have infected so far, about 156 are students here at the college, the remaining are married men outside, lecturers, lawyers, some celebs and 3 politicians,” claims the woman. “Not a day passes without me having sex, mostly four people per day.”
According to reports, a man that allegedly had sexual intercourse with the unidentified woman has made an anonymous claim.
“Your day is coming, you men destroyed my life and I will make you and your people pay for it,” threatened the woman.
A Long Island man is facing shocking charges after authorities say he had sex with a dog and then beat it with a baseball bat.
26-year-old Steven Errante of Dix Hills has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, petit larceny, and sexual misconduct. The petit larceny charge has been presented because Errante allegedly stole the dog from a pen behind a church near his home.
The dog suffered a severe skull injury, among other serious ones, and sadly had to be euthanized days later.
Errante pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and is being held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. A psychiatric evaluation has also been ordered to see if the man is mentally unstable.
A 25-year-old 10th grade English teacher at Brazosport High School in Houston, Texas admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student last year, and after apologizing for what she did, she will be spared jail time.
The incident first came to light when students spotted the teacher Nikki Scherwitz at an after-prom party at one student’s house.
“She was wearing no shoes when she showed up…like a cut up, cut off shirt and everything,” said one of the teens at the party. Witnesses said it appeared that Scherwitz had been drinking. At one point, a student approached Scherwitz and asked her to leave because it was inappropriate for her to be there, so she left with a male student.
Now, after admitting to the sexual encounter and pleading guilty to charges against her, Scherwitz will not face any jail time. She has been sentenced to 10 years probation and $5,000 fine thanks in part to a letter she wrote apologizing for her behavior.
"I apologize for the behavior I engaged in with a student,” wrote Scherwitz in the letter. “I crossed an ethical boundary I never should have crossed. I’m sorry."
Many students and parents are outraged at Scherwitz’s life sentence, claiming that it would not be the same if she was a male and the student was a female.
“The men get 25 to life, but a woman gets a slap on the wrist with only a $5,000 fine,” said student Mario Salinas.
Scherwitz has been told that she will never be allowed to teach again and that she has to stay away from minors.
The University of California at Berkeley was celebrating "National Condom Week" last week when a group of school children touring the campus were exposed to some unusual educational sex games for college students.
A group of elementary and middle school students were led through the quad area while college students played “pin-the-tail on the anus” and threw condoms into poster board cut outs of vaginas and anuses.
The campus’ health services division described other activities as "insertive condom fisting activity to show how stretchy these sexy condoms can be” and how to “properly use insertive condoms in a vagina or anus.”
In addition to the sex games, there was also a man dressed as a giant penis handing out condoms.
According to TheCollegeFix.com, UC President Janet Napolitano was visiting UC Berkeley on the same day as the kids.
"All day long, little kids were prancing by the dental dam demonstrations, sex-themed games of chance, and the guy in the penis suit," college student Claire Chiara told Campus Reform.
"It was poor planning on the part of the Tang Center to put up the Sex Ed tent in front of Sproul Hall, as that is the most popular spot on campus for tour groups to stop," added Chiar.
