Should Boys be Circumcised?

Parents face so many difficult decisions when it comes to having a child: decisions about nursing, sleep patterns, discipline, teaching methods and, in the case of boys, whether or not to circumcise. In addition to being the most common surgery for males in the U.S., circumcision has been practiced in various cultures for centuries. Yet when it comes to the health and best interest of your newborn, is circumcision the way to go?

Circucmsion the story as it is
Physical integrity and the fundamental right to ones own body, is a right that was repeatedly violated with the implementation of mass industrialized, non-consenting, non-therapeutic male infant circumcision in the Unites States. A wide range of surgical complications occur in 2-10% of the cases.(1) Since there are approximately 120 million circumcised men in the United States today, it stands to reason that there are millions of men who suffer daily from the effects of these botched circumcisions.
Perhaps the most shocking fact is that circumcision continues to be practiced in the United States even though no official western medical organization in the world recommends it. The Royal Dutch Medical Society, The British Medical Association, the Canadian Pediatric Society, and the Royal Australian College of Physicians have all made official policy statements against circumcision. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Urological Association all do not recommend circumcision, and are also in agreement that there are no proven benefits.
For some reason this information is not making it to parents. Studies have shown that doctors provide parents with almost no accurate or useful information about circumcision. One study showed that 40% of parents believed that their doctors failed to provide enough information, 46% reported that their doctors failed to give them any medical information at all, and 82.8% of parents regretted their decision they made within the first six months of their son’s life.(20) Another study found that physicians were less likely to circumcise their own sons.(21) This suggests that doctors are very well aware that circumcision is a non-therapeutic surgery (in short, a ritual); but they do not appear to share this knowledge with parents. A busy physician can supplement their income by as much as $60,000 per year from circumcision surgeries alone.(22) This incentive can cloud a physician’s judgment when it comes to providing parents with information about circumcision.
What is the foreskin? is a question that many Americans would have trouble answering. Information about the foreskin is virtually absent during discussions of anatomy in biology classrooms, and yet, the foreskin provides a well-documented set of crucial sensory, protective, immunological, hygienic, and sexual functions. The foreskin is a double fold of skin that is twice as big as its appearance. It can make up to 80% or more of the penile skin covering, and includes around 12-20 square inches of skin (the size of a 3x4 or a 4x5 index card!)(43,46), and in turn includes a specialized sheet of dartos muscle(44)
One of the functions of this mobile skin system is to glide up and down the shaft of the penis in order to facilitate non-abrasive stimulation during sexual activity without any need for artificial lubricant. This frictionless gliding mechanism is the principal source of stimulation for the intact penis and facilitates non-abrasive intercourse.

Keep the argument clean
All judgements against parents should be removed from these discussions.
I was circumcised at birth, and I have the most loving, tender, protective parents in the world. They have demonstrated nothing but love and ultimate sacrifices to myself, my other brothers and sisters. They have made their decision based on information presented to them and have done what they thought was best. To throw phrases around like "child abusers" and "mutilation" are hurtful, when we all know parents do not make a decision like this because they desire to see their infant in pain.
Whilst I understand both sides of the circumcision debate, I wish all judgements were cleared forever. Parents are faced with a bombardment of information from both sides of the fence. It is a continual yo-yo of evidence - one side brings forth a study and then the other side will debunk that information with another study (and the cycle will continue). It is confusing and parents decide what is best for their child - not just for the present but for their entire lifetime.
Let us assume for a moment that all the evidence for Pro-Circumcision is correct. One statistic states that infant circumcision eliminates the risk of penile cancer and reduces the chance of developing prostate cancer by up to 50%. Prostate Cancer is set to be Australia's number one killer in men. Penile cancer can affect 1 in 600 uncircumcised men (assuming the stats are true). Base on that, and the fact that there roughly 6.9 billion people in the world (and assuming half the population are male and 80% of that population are uncircumcised) then approximately 4.6 million men develop penile cancer. That is the population of a country. Another statistic states that it dramatically increases the risk of giving their female partner cervical cancer. If you could prevent your son from obtaining these terminal illnesses and that future gut-wrenching heart-ache, would you?
This is not even touching on the risk of STDs (there is no such thing as 100% safe sex), infections and related kidney damage.
It is a difficult decision, because no one wants to remove something that they have created from their child. However, is it just a present day decision or a decision that will affect and protect their child for when they are older? Should a parent love their 18, 30, 60 or even 90 year old son any less than a newborn?
My wife and I are expecting our first born child. If it is a son, we will have to make this hard decision also. At this stage I am leaning towards circumcision because I feel that my duty as a father is to protect my son as best as I can. I must protect his life from any illnesses and diseases – well beyond my life on this planet. If it turns out decades later to be found to be a mistake and the evidence false, then of course I will feel terrible, forever guilty and God can then judge me (only he can). If it turns out to be correct and I have lengthened my son’s time on this planet with his future wife and children – then my job as a father has been fulfilled.
Thank you.
Why can't you wait?
The risks that you mention will happen long into the future. The patient will be old enough to evaluate and understand the risks, complications and prognosis. He will thus be able to give valid consent. Men can be circumcised just as easily as infants. Technology, information, society and medicine will have advanced more by then and that may change HIS perspective on circumcision.
By delaying the decision to circumcise your child, you do not need to labour over the decision and you will not have any regrets that you made the wrong choice. It will be your son’s decision and his responsibility.
It is your child, it is not your penis
It looks better
I don't come from a particularly religious background, I am not jewish. But I am very grateful my parents had me circumcised. Just from the standpoint of looks alone. I didn't think twice about having my son circumcised. I think on average most men are pretty happy with what they have one way or another, aside from the occasional freaks.
534 Unbelievable Comments
534 comments, and 95 % of them arguing history, religion, doctors' motives, everything but the issue itself. Unbelievable. We don't need to look farther back than the current and maybe one former generation, and how most people feel about circumcision today.
Let the boy decide for himself when he gets oud enough to understand the issue and make a reasonably "informed" decision for himself, say around the age of reason or maybe puberty.
In the meantime, just as soon as his foreskin is fully and easily retractable, tell him if he wants to keep it, he had better keep it retracted at all times so it stays clean and ready for anything he might want or need to do with it.
I will never forgive my mother, ever
I was circumsized at birth and later in life came to learn that this procedure has not proven value and that I shall never experience sexual stimulation that I could have had otherwise. Thanks parents! fuck you both.
circumcision , unnecessary and done without consent
Males are born with a foreskin for a purpose. Custom and tradition have made many think that circumcision is the norm. An infant has rights and they include the right to an intact body. Infant male circumcision takes away any choice in the matter. Just imagine if it were the custom for women to go through child birth without pain killers epidurals etc. Or worse, that female circumcision of newborn females were allowed?
Circumcision is not medically viable
CIRCUMCISION DOES NOT APPEAR TO PROTECT MEN FROM STDS IN DEVELOPED NATIONS. SOURCE: Journal of Paediatrics, MARCH 2008.
The study (Dunedin, New Zealand) showed intact men were NO more likely to have an STD than circumcised men.
Note its conclusion:
"Our findings agree with other similar recent medical studies from developed countries... it appears unlikely that circumcision has a significant protective effect against common STDs".
NB. Evidence from the UK and Europe shows that STDs are weighted statistically EVENLY between circumcised and uncircumcised men.
Who Cares??
What difference does it make? From what I can tell there isn't any real reason to do it or not to do it. To each their own. If it is the culture or religious beliefs then by all means do what you believe. But I feel it is a complete utter waste of time and money for the government to really spend any time at all on this topic. This is a personal decision for the parents , not the government. Drop it!!! If the parents want to circumcise or not circumcise its their choice and no one elses. Especially the government, they have more important issues to deal with rather than putting their noses in peoples personal lives.
Child Abuse
To be circumscised before the age of consent is child abuse, no matter what religion you adhere to. This practice was designed in ancient Jewish history to alter the character of the sex act.Having scar tissue in a area suject to friction is physically limiting to a great degree. The psychological effects of a child's first genital sensation being one of extreme pain with no anesthesia should be examined more closely. This barbaric practice alters the psychology and sensitivity of the male child, converting what would have been a sexually loving person to be a weapon of war through rape.It is interesting to note the silence of so called "feminists" to this practice in males only, while they scream bloody murder about female circumcision in Islamic nations.I was not offered a choice, and should have been as an adult.
I just want to say that... (Part 3)
And lastly,
Circumcision is a profitable business. Doctors make money, and the foreskin are used for cosmetics, or skin grafts, or whatever science experiment.
Babies do feel the pain during circumcision and it doesn't take any expert to see that. Anesthesia is rarely used. On the other hand, no baby consciously remembers the pain or procedure.
Some also argue that it's his body that he should have the final say. I really do think this is a double standard. Ultimately, it's usually the parents who make every other health decision for a child. What about things like vaccines? (which I'm completely against and feel it's a violation of a child's rights and his/her security of person)
I'm not for or against circumcision. But from all the reasons, I don't really see any point of doing it.
I just want to say that... (Part 2)
6. Penile cancer is rare to the point that it's nonexistent. And HPV cases are completely harmless for the vast majority of the time and usually clears up on its own (that's why there's no rational basis for the HPV vaccine either) Urinary tract infections can easily be prevented by good hygiene.
7. Circumcision has been argued to cure epilepsy, masturbation, insanity, homosexuality, easier potty training, and many more throughout the ages. And none of which are true.
8. While people interpret religion differently, there's no mandate to circumcise.
The only good reasons to have boys circumcised is for hygiene convenience, it's easier to put on condoms, and for cosmetic appearance with the satisfaction of modifying nature to such an intimate level.
Other parents might do it out of misunderstanding, or just conformity (for the boy to look like his father, the locker room teasing myths, to fit in, or look like his brothers if they are circumcised)
I just want to say that... (Part 1)
The foreskin DOES have many purposes.
1.It protects a baby's glans from infection or irritation by fecal matter/urine.
2.Has thousands of erogenous nerves (the whole penis is full of erogenous nerves) that makes sex and masturbation more pleasurable and longer lasting. The gliding motion of the skin stimulates the head and the upper shaft.
3. Uncircumcised men don't need lube for sexual activity, since the foreskin keeps it moisturized.
4. Women get more pleasure because uncircumcised men don't have to thrust hard (more gentle lovers they say) to get pleasure. And because the sheathed glans is softer and doesn't produce hard friction to the vaginal walls. Instead it makes an alternating pressure sensation
5.There's not enough to say it prevents HIV. Since many studies were done in Africa, where health conditions and lifestyles are dramatically different. And the fact that HIV is much more prevalent in the US where most boys are circumcised than in Europe, where most boys are not.
You just wait
OKay all you people against circumcision dont do it to your son and then wait until he reaches high school and is maked in front of other boys. Then we'll see how your son feels when his penis looks "weird" and he's extremely embarassed and blames the whole siuation on you for not going through with it when he was a baby
OK, I'll wait
Have you read the statistics on circ rates? He won't be the only one with a "weird" penis.
My choice
As an adult male, I choose to enjoy the full freedom and pleasure that my intact genitals offer me as a basic right to being born a male.
My body though carries the scar of amy forced mutilation at the hands of an unscupolous doctor and ignorant parents who enforced their will on me.
We go through this single life with only 1 body. I have been denied the full use of my own body by a medical profession pretending to act in my interest, parents who knew not what they dia and a society so apathetic that they fail to see the the damage they wrought on themselves.
Every man, irrespective of age, cultore, religion, traditional practice or familial preference has the RIGHT to an intact body, mind and soul.
My forced circumcision denied me an intact body, mind and soul. It has violated me on all levels.

strange thing, infection is geografically based
Outside of the USA hardly any men/boys who are not either Jewish or Muslim are circumsized and guess what: they don't all run around picking up all kinds of nasty bugs. No higher incidence of STD's and no women who turn away from them for lack of sexiness (to the contrary, I guess ...).
Restitution is finally mine...
After a few months of legal battles post serving mum and dad, and once they realized that they had no shot at getting the case thrown out due to legal precedent, we arrived at a settlement of $20,000 to be paid out over 7 years.
Justice, finally. Don't let this happen to you, future parents. I got my revenge, don't make it to where your children have to take revenge on you.
Should Boys be Circumcised?
Let him wear it off ;-)
Face Cream: The Secret Ingredient
For those of you who don't know, foreskin is a common active ingredient in exfoliating and anti-aging creams. It goes right from the baby, is then ground up into fine little pieces, and put into anti-aging creams. It is very likely if you use one of these creams it's derived from foreskins that are cut off without anesthetic (using anesthetic makes them unusable for some reason).
I'd like to see the live donor consent on those, wouldn't you? If that doesn't disgust you I don't know what will...
Pain Responses Circ'ed vs. Uncirc'ed
Studies consistently show that circumcised boys have greater pain and anxiety responses to medical procedures (such as vaccinations, but I don't consider those "medical" anyway, another debate topic altogether) than do their uncircumcised or female counterparts. Circumcised men are also shown to have lower pain tolerances than their uncircumcised or female counterparts.
Circumcision of all males in the USA needs to be mandatory by law.
Routine circumcision of all infant males and all males in general should be MANDATORY BY LAW, within the USA. There is no reason any male should be left non-circumcised. Circumcision needs to be classed as a required vaccination for all males. If this were law, then sexual dysfunction in males, cervical cancer in women, STDs' and AIDS would be reduced by 70%! Also the virtual elimination of penile cancer would take place and permanent perfect hygiene of the penis would take place too if circumcision was required by law. Since Tyson's Cells, Human Papillion Virus and numerous other bacterias' and molds the highly infectuous foreskin/frenulum secretes will be eliminated along with the foreskin/frenulum, liberating the penis into a fully functional and healthy organ, with permanent positive benefits. Not only should all boys be circumcised routinely, but it really needs to be a mandatory law in the USA that all males must be circumcised by a competent operator. Classed under 'required vaccination'. Or else the male who is not circumcised, cannot hold a driver's license, vote and attent any public or private school. Mandatory circumcision for all males in the USA enforced by law, would be an excellent health code for the USA.
It should be against the law to circumcise males in the USA
It should be against the law to circumcise males unless if the male is over 18 and passes a sanity test, or in very rare cases where it is medically necessary. I was circumcised when I was a baby. Circumcision though did me catastrophic harm and circumcision didn't do me any good, there were no benefits to me being circumcised. I'm extremely outraged to extremes that I was circumcised, in my opinion no one should of ever had the right to circumcise me and in my opinion no one should ever have the right to circumcise any nonconsenting human being unless if there is a very rare medical need to do it.
Correct Circumcisions Are What Count
Well you probably are a victim of un-regulated operators being allowed to perform circumcisions. That is where the system needs to change. That is where only specialists trained to do circumcisions, with much experience are only allowed to perform circumcision. If they removed too much skin and you are "scalped" there is skin expansion by putting tension on the shaft skin. Skin when under moderate and constant tension don't just "stretch" but actually grow. They took off too much skin with you, but you can back more shaft skin by using medical tape and pulling as much shaft skin in tension forward and holding it there. 1/16" of inch of skin per week can grow. You may want to skin expand for up to a month. You will get back a meaty and healthy appearance to your member, since you've gotten back the shaft skin which was removed with the circumcision. That is what I am against: Incompetent Circumcisers being able to circumcise babies such as E.R. Doctors. Only a skilled Urologist or OBGYN should be allowed to perform the procedure. Unfortunately this is not a law. That is why parents should pre-arrange ahead of time who will circumcise their son when the mother delivers the child. You were probably born in a time when they didn't even let the parents get involved with that. But you can get back missing shaft skin, not only will blood flow increase to the penis, you will have a soft moist appearance and your pleasure will increase enormously. But having the foreskin and frenulum completely trap the head of the penis is very problematic. I myself wasn't circumcised till I was 18, I know how bad it is to have foreskin. Especially when it comes to health, hygiene, sexual performance, urine retention and avoiding catching and giving diseases. But on the flip side of the coin, being circumcised at birth should ONLY be performed by someone who is very knowledgeable about the different sections of skin, between foreskin, inner foreskin and shaft skin. Too many incompetent Doctors simply pull all layers through the clamp and remove it. So a percentage of men have scalped shafts, and blame circumcision for it. When it isn't the circumcision to be blamed, but the incompetent and incorrect circumcision to be blamed, by an incompetent Doctor who has no business performing the procedure. But skin expansion is what you need to do, to grow back about 1/2" to 3/4" more skin on your shaft. Then you will have pure pleasure and not be blaming circumcision for your problems. I got circumcised in the medium and tight manner. Where the shaft is taut, but the inner foreskin is 1/3 down the shaft, smooth removal of outer foreskin and frenulum. Sexual performance, hygiene, health, disease prevention is totally awesome compared to having the infectuous foreskin layers. This is because I hand picked who would circumcise me and went over competency with several Doctors. The one I picked did a great job, and removed the foreskin/muscosa/frenulum, but kept the inner foreskin back to the original shaft skin. A lot of men are circumcised correctly in that manner and cannot understand why the Anti-Circumcision Lobby are claiming they are "damaged". You weren't circumcised correctly, this is the problem. But if you put constant tension on your shaft skin and grow through skin expansion about another 1/2" of skin, not only will all your pleasure return, but you will have a meaty feel and appearance to your memeber, with far more blood flow to your member. Circumcision is good, but it MUST BE done correctly by a COMPETENT Doctor. Not all Doctors are competent to perform circumcision. There is a correct way to do it. I think they should make a law that only a Circumcision Specialist who knows how to do it correctly and has extensive understanding of the different skin layers and functions, can ONLY be able to perform the procedure. I myself am an FAA Licensed Aircraft Mechanic. Even some apparently simple-looking procedures have more inner complexities which MUST be first researched, so the operator understands the inner minute components. So when they perform a procedure, it is not only performed, but DONE CORRECTLY WITHIN THE LIMITS OF WHAT PERFECTION OF THE PROCEDURE WOULD BE! There are many men who are very happy being circumcised, and cannot understand what the problem is with the Anti-Circumcision Lobby. That is because they were circumcised CORRECTLY! Maybe the Anti-Circumcision Lobby should convert to the Anti-Incorrect-Circumcision Lobby. Then they would be doing something beneficial. As in they should be a watch-dog committee to make sure ONLY the COMPETENT DOCTORS are allowed to perform circumcision. When performed correctly, circumcision such a good thing, it should be required by law.
Mistertruth, you had a choice.
First of all, we're 'pro-intact' not anti-circumcision. We're not against circumcision if the owner of the penis wishes to reduce his own sexual organ when he becomes the age to consent. You had a choice. You chose your “competent” surgeon. No one else forced you to get surgery. Your body-YOUR CHOICE! Frankly, I'm very happy that you had a choice. You chose exactly how you wanted your member to look. Thats fantastic! No one should force this decision onto another human being. Remember, not every male will think the way you do. Not every female will have a sexual preference for a denuded permanently exposed glans and a non-mobile sex organ (meaning one without a gliding action).
When performing penile reduction surgery on a healthy newborn a circumciser, no matter how “competent” you think they can be, has to 'guessimate' where to actually cut. The problem with this is, when the child goes through puberty and his penis changes, his requirement for skin to 'grow into' also changes. A newborn could be getting what looks like a 'loose circumcision' but no one knows just how much skin he will actually need as an adult. He can certainty lack the skin necessary to accommodate a comfortable erection. Its best to wait till he is fully grown before undergoing a penis reduction surgery. That is, if he chooses to do so. Every male should have the freedom to do what he wishes to his own body.
Mental Illness Is To Be Blamed, Not Circumcision
Circumcision improves the sexual function of a man. It is a helpful procedure all males should have done. I didn't really have a choice, because I was supposed to get circumcised, but some idiots were running the show and I got left behind. I will surely make sure my son gets circumcised. Foreskin isn't part of the penis it is just a wrapper which traps the penis. It's like a wrapper on a chewing gum stick it's useless. Your problem is, is that you have mental or spiritual problems. Your circumcision has nothing to do with any of your problems. You have some underlying psychological disorder, or some spiritual wickedness. Either from family problems or your brain chemicals, even before you got circumcised, like when you were two seconds old. You take care of those problems and you'll be ok.
Take care. Bye.
Mistertruth lies
I think Mistertruth has demonstrated superbly for us an important corollary to Hitler's observation that if you tell a big enough lie often enough people will believe it: If you tell enough lies fast enough people will get too exhausted to recognize them all as lies and will end up believing most of them.
Let's look at just one glaring example from the post above: "Foreskin isn't part of the penis ..."
Mistertruth lies.
lies
If you consider man to be one of the animals you will note that in most cases in the other animals the sheath (foreskin) is a device to keep the penis from dragging in the dirt and to help steer it for intromisssion into the female.
Anyone bragging up having a foreskin and bragging up "gliding action" is just making up things they want to believe.
WOW!
Foreskins keep animals' penises from dragging in the DIRT? Why is it that human beings are so incapable of thinking competently and rationally about their own and other species' sex organs?
yes WOW
>WOW!Foreskins keep animals' penises from dragging in the DIRT? Why is it that human beings are so incapable of thinking competently and rationally about their own and other species' sex organs?
How could anyone think rationally about something as overwhelming as sex!
But really can you dispute that a dog, hog, bull or elephant would not be impaired in getting around if the basic shaft of the penis were not constrained along the body. And even with the guiding tendency of the sheath people with horses to get bred often add their assistance to steer.
Another aside is that veterinarians sometimes do partial, on a diagonal "circumcisions" in cases where intromission is hampered.
Hal 84
Are you prepared to be sued by your son?
It could happen, as mentioned, I'm suing my parents for having it done to me. Attorneys for the Rights of a Child (ARC) will gladly take on the case and you will be sunk!
Just warning you right now.
I truly hope you are kidding
My jaw hit the floor when I read this. You have got to be kidding me...suing your parents! Give me a break. Because they did what they felt was right for you when you were too young to make the decision? Wonder if you future son(s) will sue you for leaving them intact should they develop something that could have been prevented by circumcision? Something to think about.
We all try to do what we feel is right for our children. I asked my husband if he was angry that he's circumcised, if he wanted to gr-grow his foreskin and if he wanted to sue his mom for deciding to have him circumcised. He laughed in my face.
And after your comments about how great the annuity payments are from your doctor you sound like you are only in it for the money.
Suing parents for circumcision
I wouldn't sue my parents for having me circumcised when I was a baby because I'm sure that if they had known circumcision would do me more harm than good they would not have let me be circumcised. I could see some one suing their parents though if the parents knew or should have known that circumcision would decrease their sons sexual pleasure capacity for life, or if the parents knew or should have known circumcision would do more harm than good.
As they say, if in doubt don't. So it is horribly wrong for parents to have their baby sons circumcised when it can't possibly be known if they'll want to be circumcised or not when they grow up. If a baby is not circumcised when he grows up he still can be circumcised if he wants to be. But if a baby is circumcised when he grows up if he doesn't want to be circumcised then he doesn't have a choice and has to live his whole life missing out, the best he can do is restore his foreskin, but a restored foreskin isn't nearly as good as a natural foreskin because it's missing thousands of high pleasure giving nerve endings and the most pleasurable parts were cut off.
I'm DEAD Serious
I really hate my parents anyway, for more reasons than one. They're worthless pieces of and I can't stand to even look at pictures of them! I hate them so bad in fact I've completely changed my name now to reflect that I want nothing to do with them.
I don't plan on having children, thank you. The fact of the matter is, circumcision has caused me a great deal of emotional distress. Yes, restoring my foreskin is helping some, and I am more sensitive, however it does not have the highly erogenous structures of a real foreskin, so I'll never experience the same amount of sexual sensitivity that a truly intact man does.
If I can get a few thousand dollars out of it why not? I'm a teacher, I don't make that much money, and every little bit helps. After all, everyone who files a lawsuit is in it for the money.
What about the complications of the procedure?
Every circumcision has complications, including dramatic reduction in sexual pleasure (by as much as 75%, which I can attest to currently undergoing foreskin restoration and my sensitivity has at least tripled). The American Cancer Society has concluded that penile cancer and circumcision are unrelated. The American Association of Pediatrics has concluded that safer sex practices are much more effective at preventing spreads of STI's, AIDS, and cervical cancer (which you obviously have no knowledge of...it's Human PAPILLOMA Virus...not Human Papillion Virus) than circumcision!
Sexual dysfunction would be reduced? Oh please. Circumcision is the reason why so many Viagra prescriptions are written each day. It is the LEADING cause of ED.
Other complications...extreme pain (the procedure is done without any anesthetic), hemmorhage (happens in about 1 in 500 procedures) and a number of infants die each year because of it.
By the way...if you're going to make the argument of the foreskin being an incubator, by that same token, the clitoral hood and inner labia are the exact same way, so should we cut those off too??? Why the double standard?
Any doctor recommending circumcision goes against both the recommendations of the American Association of Pediatrics AND the American Medical Association.
Complications Eliminated By Competent Operator
You think you know something because of your opinion, not solid basic facts. You use your visual opinions and ignore structures and functions, Histology, and the practical side of reality. This is why you're so fixated on being anti-circumcision. Try looking on the otherside. I myself know something about foreskins and not being circumcised. I'm not ignorant of the other side of the coin. Circumcision is better overall, and keeping it routine at birth is the best lot. Complications during circumcision are eliminated completely provided competent operators are ONLY ALLOWED to perform the procedure. Sticking with the basic equipment which perfected the procedure, such as the Gomco Clamp. When they start wanting to invent new circumcision clamps like the Plasti-Bell, that plastic becomes entrained into the skin and is toxic. All plastics are toxic when reacted with water and skin molecules/cells. The Gomco Clamp is quick and seals all blood vessels and is surgical steel against skin. There is nothing more "advanced" which should be used. People want to keep inventing some more "advanced" this is where the complications also stem from. Provided the correct equipment as in clamp type and size plus competenet circumciser, there are no complications. Problem also lies with the fact they are letting general ER Doctors perform the procedure, this should be totally ILLEGAL. Only a skilled operator with the correct equipment should be allowed to perform circumcisions. Then it goes quick, there is minimal pain, and the healing time is fast. As if no foreskin was ever there. This is how it is supposed to be, and this is how most (not all) circumcisions have been done. I am against just any Doctor especially ER Doctors being allowed to perform the procedure. A Urologist or OBGYN who has performed many circumcisions should ONLY be allowed to circumcise a newborn male. Then complications are eliminated.
Harm from circumcision
My circumcision wasn't botched or anything like that. Circumcision was catastrophically harmful to me though because circumcision reduced my sexual pleasure capacity. Currently I'm restoring my foreskin and since I started restoring things have become much better. Now sometimes I have such strong feelings that I get scared that I won't beable to handle such strong feelings. Before restoring I never had strong feelings like that.
Mistertruth, I don't know if you had phimosis or some problem with your foreskin or what. But just because you're better off without your foreskin doesn't mean that every male is better off without his foreskin. And just because circumcision didn't decrease pleasure for you that doesn't mean that circumcisions don't decrease pleasure for all males.
"Harm" from circumcision ?
You restorers are really fooling yourselves!
Anything that requires so much daily 24/7 attention to the penis will give you "better sex" by virtue of the extra stimulation of the main erotic area- the brain.
Some of the same type of "strong feelings" you experience would be attainable by putting veg oil on the glans and covering it with a sandwich bag for a several hours before sex. Again- change and the added attention are the activating factors.
There are forums that get questions from the uncut asking how they can get rid of the oversensitivity that they have which is preventing them from having pleasurable sex. It is a very real problem.
When your restoration provides you with a lot of loose skin you will be able to successfully masturbate in a female. I had a foreskin until age 42. I always considered the fact that it would insulate the glans from friction, maybe even by half is no recommendation for having a foreskin.
Most other animals have a sheath to support the penis between sexual activities. They do not insert the sheath (foreskin) into the female!
Hal 84
Did you have medical problems?
Hal, did you have medical problems with your foreskin? Many males who were circumcised as an adult have said circumcision made sex a lot worse for them. On the Penn and Teller show they had a guy on there who was circumcised as an adult, the circumcision caused his sexual pleasure to go way down, so he sued his doctor for decreasing his sexual pleasure and he won, then he restore his foreskin and got back much of his lost pleasure. So it is a fact that circumcisions make sex a lot worse for at least many males if not for most males. Many males who were circumcised as an adult have said circumcision improved sex for them or didn't make much of a difference, but with many of those males they had medical problems with their foreskin that they didn't know how to fix without circumcision.
