i DO with all my heart believe that people are born gay, its not a gene that can be inherited.. but its a known fact. you know when your gay, its the fiber of your being. when gay, you automatically think different than your peer about a man or a woman. you cant help what your attracted to. & saying that its a choice is somewhat correct, a choice is what you prefer, how you like something. & if its a man rather than a woman who are we as a society to tell someone what they like is wrong?

Several years ago, I used to like to sit in front of the TV and eat chocolate ice cream doused with condensed milk right out of a can. Today, though I think I might still like it, I don't. Why? I think I have passed the length of time that ice cream eating era was going to last. My point?

If a man likes women, then one day decides that he likes men, who cares? This over-analyzing this issue does more harm than good. The bottom line should be that regardless of your taste, or where it came from, you simply have the right to decide what it is you like and not have to sit around trying to explain it away or analyzing the reason for it.

I just wrote a comment about religion where I said it was losing to atheism. This gay thing is nothing more than religion on its last leg. Fighting a moral battle against the gays is going to rush its demise. People should be free to do as they please, like what and whom they please, and we should leave well enough alone and concentrate on living our own lives. If you don't like being gay, then that should be enough, don't be one. But what gives anyone the right to decide that what you like is wrong or right? It should be a moot point because it actually is.

And does it even matter?
What does it matter if a person is born gay or not? It makes not a bit of difference. What's next? Were you born liking that Toyota or did you change after you crashed your motorcycle?
The fact is, that whether a person was born to it or whether they developed a taste for it and the circumstances under which these tastes developed are going to differ from person to person. And no study is ever going to pinpoint the reason for tastes. Just as no one can tell the level of pain we feel when injured.
Why do we feel a need to justify and rationalize something so simple as taste? If you like someone, or something, it should be enough for you to decide how to proceed. Of course, if you have the bible thumping bug, this creates all sorts of problems, even if we're not talking sex.

When things are over analyzed like this. It should be irrelevant whether gay people are born that way or not. Are there any studies that talk about whether straight people are born straight? How important is this finding? The simple truth of the matter is that people should be free to decide what their sexual preference is at any time in their life, it's not like it hurts anyone.

I don't see why it matters whether or not homosexuality has any genetic base or not.

I was talking to a French friend of mine who was telling me that in France the gay -rights movement tries to promote the idea that being gay is a choice (and that it's prejudiced to treat it like a genetic disease), whereas in the US the gay-rights movement tries to argue that it is genetic (and that it's prejudiced to treat it like a degenerate lifestyle choice).

The point is that homosexuality is as old as time, and it is nothing more than a loving relationship between two consenting adults. It is just one more way that the human species forms lasting social bonds.

People might argue that it is "unnatural", but then again, there are many things humans do that is "unnatural": cooking food , flying in airplanes, taking medicine , painting fingernails. Just because something doesn't have a genetic base doesn't mean it shouldn't exist (by that logic, all culture shouldn't exist).

If the answer to the question of gays being born that way is ever proven, the next question will be how can it be cured?

Of course gays are born that way. However, there are also the cases of shame where a child has been abused and that turns them to the way of a gay life. What about the blacks , on some show 20/20 or one of those, that had a story about the title "going down" these men will spend a night, or a weekend having gay sex , but bulk at the suggestion they are gay. This was only about the black male, no one else. People suggesting that they are too strong to have that type of sex, or to be gay. What else are they if they spend nights and weekends having gay sex. Then go home to their families, wives (poor wife ). It's also been reported in the papers that black men have more cases of aids than any other race .

There are also cases of people who decide to turn to the gay life, but aren't gay. Baloney if they prefer that type of sex then they're gay. Leonard de Vinci, Michelanglo were gay men, there have been gay people since the world began, and if God didn't give this life style to them, why are there so many thru out the ages? It might be that the Catholic Church who first quoted God as saying gays are not to be allowed in church . Oh maybe those queer priests didn't want the competition and wrote that it was wrong to be gay. It is impossible that God let so many people have that life style, and then he said it was wrong. NOPE, it's the churches who made it sound wrong, and forced that opinion down our throats.

I think everyone is born without sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is developed as likes and dislikes are established. Everyone would be bi-sexual if society didn't drive them into pigeon holes

Genes do not determine nearly as much as some people claim. Environment is much more impacting. And even if there is a gay gene, that dose not mean that all people who are gay have it, or that all people that have it are gay.

I also think that people who get " sex changes" are no different from people who get nose jobs or face lifts. If you ant to mutilate your genitals and pump yourself full of hormones, go for it. But don't try and tell me you are a woman , your not. Male/Female roles are so strongly imposed on everyone, that men who are not masculine become confused and think they must be women . This reason for the Gay explosion in recent years seems to be caused by chemicals in our food and water . If chemicals have caused this problem then maybe some other chemical (antidote?) will be able to cure it.

Even if you believe people are born with homosexual tendencies, you should also accept that they can control and check their physical urges. Just because I get angry, does not mean I should act outwardly on that anger and take someone's life. Why not chose to avoid acting on the temptations of same-sexual encounters? On the other hand, Christianity and the joys of Jesus Christ can bring greater moral fulfillment in the soul. People take this topic way too seriously. I am not gay and the thought never crossed my mind. When I see gay men smooching in public and women openly displaying affection, sometimes to the excess of good taste, it makes me shake my head. Nevertheless, after reading these posts, it is a hot topic among many. It's nothing new either if you chose to believe history.

As to rights, why not? I don't get the tattoo thing either and that makes me shake my head, too. But will I write my congress person to pass legislation demanding a tattoo disclosure on marriage licenses and tax returns? Not a chance. I try to be objective and blindfold myself to prejudice which, after all, is a visual matter.

So what if they want their rights? Who gets hurt? Divorce attorneys will love it, it will diffuse antiquated religious precepts of Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin archetypes, and will possibly get gays off the liberal bandwagon. We need to dispense with politics and find an independent who can keep gays from helping to re-elect Obama just because he isn't one of those archetypes.

Gays are smart, they earn money , shun entitlement and just want to be what they are, or what they have become, either by accident or design. To claim that millions of people make the choice to go that route simply defies logic. If you can choose to be gay, you can also choose to be straight. One option will be painful in countless ways if you remain in the U.S., the other choice offers you automatic social acceptance and support . If you are not born a social pariah, why would you decide to forfeit all the attendant benefits of being straight and choose the difficult path? There are lots of gay people who try to solve this dilemma by getting married or otherwise "acting straight." A few such members of congress have been outed in recent years. However, I've never heard of a straight person posing as a gay man or lesbian in order to camouflage or deny his/her heterosexuality.

When will you Yanks learn to accept homosexuality as normal and natural? In Canada, this debate was over 10 years ago, and we have come to accept gay people as they are. I'm gay, I was born gay - I'm emotionally and physically attracted to the same-sex and I have always been and always will be. A high number of people simply don't understand homosexuality , and most refuse to even want to understand. For hundreds, if not thousands of years, they were discriminated against in many societies, they were punished, tortured, burned, killed just for loving somebody of the same sex.
