A mother jumped to her death while holding her 8-year-old son in her arms after a botched surgical procedure caused her to become depressed.
The incident occurred on Oct. 13. Anna Ozhigova, 33, jumped from her parents’ high-rise apartment in while holding her 8-year-old son, Gleb, in her arms, the Daily Mail reported.
The child, who was sleeping at the time, was found close to Ozhigova’s body, officials told a local newspaper.
Ozhigova had recently undergone plastic surgery. The botched nose job left her with oversized nostrils that made her look like a “pig,” she told a friend on social media.
The botched surgery also caused her to split from her husband, Oleg Ponomarev. Ponomarev would reportedly make fun of Ozhigova, and “oink” at her.
Ozhigova spoke to a friend on social media about her battle with depression:
The surgeon convinced me that my nose didn't suit me.
I'm easily impressed, and he convinced me.
He was saying he would change the shape just one [millimeter].
I can't smile. My nostrils are now as big as if I was a pig, and moving apart.
My smile is now a frown because he removed muscles above my lip and changed something.
My husband is oinking when he sees me.
Ozhigova added that she would wear full make up whenever she was with her husband, but said “he's known me for 12 years and can't get used to me now.”
“I'm also having problems with my facial expressions,” she continued. “He says it was stupid to do this surgery.
“I can't accept the idea that I'm going to be like this forever. I have a child, and I live for him. I'm going to a psychologist.”
Ozhigova also left a note before committing suicide, according to the Russian Investigative Committee. The note read: “I wanted happiness, kindness, and peace for Gleb. But he's growing up in anger.”
A friend of Ozhigova’s said she feared her husband would secure custody of Gleb, says The Sun.
“That was the last straw,” the friend told the newspaper, adding that Ozhigova needed “emotional support” and had tried to commit suicide before.
“Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances,” law enforcement officials said in a statement.
