Woman Accused Of Murdering Her 7-Year-Old Step-Daughter Is Beheaded

A woman in Saudi Arabia, Laila Bint Abdul Muttalib Basim, has been beheaded by sword. Basim was pulled through the streets, against her own will, by police officers before being executed.

Basim is accused of horrific crimes, including molestation and murder of her 7-year-old stepdaughter. Independent.ie reports that on the way to her execution, Basim shouted “I did not kill. I did not kill.”

Also according to Independent.ie, Basim was beheaded without pain killers, causing intense suffering. There is an option to sedate victims before a beheading. Basim was not provided this option.

This brutal execution follows the punishment given to a Saudi blogger, Raif Badaw, who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes, about 50 every week, until 1,000 total is reached. His crime? ‘Insulting’ Islam.
