UK Study: Women Buying More Sex Than Ever Before

| by Michael Allen

A new study by researchers at Lancaster University and Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK has found that women are buying sex these days more than they ever have.

These early findings revealed that women are paying for sex because they don't have time for relationships, reports The Independent.

The type of women who are paying for sex spans all ages and backgrounds, claims the study.

The study included interviews with prostitutes (male, female, transgender) and focused on prostitution services for women, noted The Times UK News.

Drs. Sarah Kingston and Natalie Hammond, who are leading the research, say that ads for male prostitutes increased from 5,246 in 2010 to 15,732 this year, while females jumped from 11,056 to 28,614.

Kingston told The Independent:

We have made some fascinating early findings, but we still have much work to do. We are seeking to explore motivations and experiences of women who book escorts; who and where they buy sex from and to explore how physical and sexual safety is negotiated.
