Immigration has been the central issue of President-elect Donald Trump's presidential bid since it launched in 2015 on the pledge to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Yet, promises to build a wall and deport millions of undocumented immigrants have panned out to few (if any) details in the months since -- but that may be changing soon.
Two days before Trump is set to officially ascend to the presidency, Fox News aired an interview on "Fox & Friends" with Trump in which he said he will announce a new immigration plan “over the next two to three months,” notes Politico.
“It's a plan that's going to be very firm, but it's going to be a lot of heart," Trump continued.
In response to the issue of "dreamers" -- or children brought to the country illegally by their undocumented immigration parents -- Trump revealed that his new plan would address standing concerns. "And we're going to be looking into that situation," Trump said. "That's a very tough situation, but I think they're going to end up being very happy. We're going to have great people coming into our country, people that love our country.”

"Worried is not the word I'd use," Gail Seerum, an immigration lawyer in Florida, told the Orlando Sentinel. "I'd say panic-stricken." Seerum added that bureaucratic hold-ups may delay many immigrants from deportation for two years or more, "But it doesn't stop people from worrying, 'What's going to happen to me?' They hear deportation and are understandably scared."
“We're going to have great people and people of great talent coming into our country,” Trump later continued. “And if you can think of this, some of the Silicon Valley companies want to build up in Canada, because in Canada, they're able to get the people that they need and they can't get them in this country because we don't allow them in this country. ... So we're going to take care of a lot of situations. And we're going to have a lot of heart, believe me. It's going to be a heart almost as big as yours.”
