Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has responded to former Mexican President Vicente Fox’s assertion that his country will never pay for a wall along its border with the U.S.

During a Feb. 25 interview with Univision and Fusion anchor Jorge Ramos, an irate Fox used strong language to slam Trump’s proposal to have Mexico pay for a border wall.

“I’m not going to pay for that f—ing wall!” Fox said. “[Trump] should pay for it, he’s got the money.”

The former president added that he was troubled by the large Hispanic turnout for Trump in the Nevada Republican caucus.

“Please, you Hispanics, Latinos in the U.S., open your eyes,” Fox said. “It’s not to defend our race … it’s to defend this very same nation that is hosting you. This nation is going to fail if it goes into the hands of a crazy guy.”

During the Feb. 25 CNN-moderated Republican debate, Trump was asked about Fox’s comments.

“The wall just got 10 feet taller, believe me,” Trump responded, according to ABC News. “It just got 10 feet taller.”

The business mogul, who has himself used explicit language on the campaign trail, also chastised Fox’s use of the F-word.

“I can only tell you, if I would have used even half of that word, it would have been a national scandal,” Trump said. “This guy used a filthy, disgusting word on television and he should be ashamed of himself and he should apologize.”

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, himself of Cuban descent, proceeded to blast Trump’s stance on immigration and proposed border wall, referencing the business mogul’s fine of $1 million for hiring undocumented workers from Poland to build Trump Tower, the Independent reports.

“You’re the only person on this stage that’s ever been fined for hiring people to work on your projects illegally,” Rubio told Trump.

“He brings up something from 30 years ago,” Trump responded. “It worked out very well. Everybody was happy. By the way the laws were totally different — that was a whole different world.”

Later in the debate, Rubio took another shot at Trump’s hiring of Polish workers.

“If he builds the wall the way he built Trump Towers, he’ll be using illegal immigrant labor to do it,” Rubio quipped.
