Drones seem to rule the skies these days, but the Dutch National Police are training eagles to take out the mechanical devices in the Netherlands (video below).

The police have teamed up with Guard From Above, a company that trains birds, to teach eagles to attack unauthorized drones, notes Ieee.org.

In the video, an eagle takes down what appears to be a DJI Phantom drone.

According to The Verge, the drone's propellers are made of carbon fiber and can cut human flesh, but one of the eagle's trainers asserts that the scales on the bird's legs protect it from injury.

However, the trainer concedes that an extra type of protection may be added.

The unusual training is expected to go on for months.
