Colin Furze, a plumber and amateur inventor in the UK, uploaded a video (below) on YouTube of his latest invention, a homemade hoverbike. The video, which was uploaded on April 28, already has more than six million views.
In the video, Furze says he has "no engineering qualifications and no experience flying." He explains that the hoverbike does not have steering, brakes or even a seat, but those limitations don't stop his enthusiasm.
Furze climbs on the middle of the hoverbike, while two large rotating blades spin quickly on each end.
The aircraft does lift off the ground, not very high, but it does hover.

Furze hovers around his backyard before flying over a field, touching down ever so often. He does appear to be able to steer it somewhat by shifting his weight.
In the video, Furze also shows himself and a friend building the hoverbike together through trial and error, experimenting with different frames.
Furze says in the video that he couldn't add any steering control because of the extra weight.
He writes on his YouTube page:

What a creation, it's a unhinged flying bike/human blender but unbelievably it gets off the ground and actually FLIES. #Unlearn what a plumber can do in a shed eh?
Considering the amount of time i've spent on this and the fact this is my first EVER attempt at making anything that leaves the ground this is well and truly a job well done, it's easy to overlook the true scale of what takes to make something like this work at all.
Furze has created crazy contraptions in the past, including a homemade firework rocket launcher in March, which have made him a regular on the British TV show "Gadget Geeks," notes RT.
In another video (below), Furze fires the firework rocket launcher at his friend in a tent and truck. He also manages to shoot his own socks off with the device.
